• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Sadly not... I've got about 5 of them - taken up residence in a neighbour but one's home in the roof. They gather and plant the nuts from the next door neighbour's Hazel trees... in the rose containers, some (in training) bonsai containers... the lawn... small as it is. If you send me your...

    Blood pressure

My comment may have been misleading to some degree. If urgent then, when filling the form/questions *some* of your responses can bring up that "your symptoms would appear that you need urgent attention. Dial 999 or 101 ..." Some cases do get same day appointments but it could be either face to...

    Blood pressure

The impression I have of our medical practice is that many things get farmed out to nurses rather than to the doctor to refer to. You have to fill out a long form for what 'ailments' you may be suffering from, answering (tick type boxes) for such and submit it for someone to decide if you can...

I'd gone back to them on this 'ailment' they'd prescribed these type of meds for - Omeprazole being the one presently on - as they'd not found out the reason/investigated *over a period of time* it to be prescribed. Eventually an endoscopy - a couple of over a period of the 20 years - came up...

Definitely - and do - read them... and carry a card for one of the meds - although presently no side effects from that one. Sadly it's one of those things that, over time, other stuff happening in our busy lives tends to push what's been read further back in our minds *over time*. It's only...

I can well accept that Rob - and I'm always a bit reluctant to take the mess long term. Until finding out that being on Omeprazole (derivatives of) long term isn't advised and that "the doctor should follow up with six monthly checkups" I'd put my faith in them. Now I'm finding myself...

The Benefits Of A Hobby After Retirement

I'll admit now that my retirement came out of the blue on one of my shifts... I'd intended to retire when I got to 68 yrs - in 2019 rather than January 2017 at 65ys and 10mth. I had an 'altercation' with a junior department manager who I'd continually helped out a number of times. I'll not go...

Welcome along on the journey Dek 😊. Friendly and helpful bunch of folk here... As mentioned a couple of times... photo's are very welcome and looked forwa4d to in the Forum. Something I have difficulty with 'planning' the taking of when I start on something in the workshop - so far mainly units...

Interesting... 🤔... I 'suffer' from a 'sort of' insomnia but I've put it down to my prostate issue - causes me to get up during the night. On meds, 1 which is supposed to help shrink the prostate but still have the night 'problem'. That said, the blood test results show as 'managed' - think I...

    Lost! Now found.

Although I wear glasses (vari-focal) I toyed with the idea of getting a pair of the JML magnifying glasses, can be worn over glasses - but have held off because of some of the reviews... £14.99 but... no hurry at the present as I'm not working on anything that needs such 💯 % accuracy ...

I was put on the Omeprazole (and derivatives of before) for an Hiatus hernia... around 26~28 years ago - varying strengths of. I'm now 20mg daily (10mg morning/10mg evening) but I've reduced it to 1 morning only... monitoring myself. My only other meds are for my prostate - think I mentioned...

Thanks shafiq... for the information on salt/potassium/magnesium... To be totally honest they've not been able to define what's going on with my BP etc., and the best way to treat for it! My faith in my doctor took a bit of a dent after having blood test after blood because I was having...

Not wanting to contradict you on the salt @shafiq but I feel I need to mention what one of the BP nurses said to me on my last *regular* BP check up... remembering (if possible without going back up the thread) that I was (do) give higher readings at BP check ups. She seemed under the...

    Hot Heat 2026

Just a thought... with the government pushing for everyone to increase the amount of insulation in their properties... is this going to increase the heat inside them when we get such weather conditions in the future - as predicted with the global warming 🤔 Mine has around 6" at present... 1796...

    Hot Heat 2026

31° in the house, up stairs, at 10.20 Well over 30° in the garden - thermometer isn't registering as it doesn't have more than 30° on the gauge... having to entertain the grandson... paddling pool, parasol over... neck fan going, doing nought but a bit of (BIT) breeze 😜
