• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    The Niff-Naff Cabinet; door hinging!!

All this attention to detail... I can now see that I am entirely outclassed. I lack your skill and patience.

    Spitfire !

I have always been a huge admirer of what you Brits (and in particular what the RAF) did during the war, especially those early years in the Battle of Britain. No truer words were ever spoken: "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few". I was very fortunate...

I always throw good steel like that in my scrap pile, for future projects...

Make a workshop knife from a reciprocating saw blade.

It's great to be able to make your own tools (IMO). They are special in many ways, and generally just as functional & aesthetic as the ones you might purchase.

WEN BG4270T 10-Inch Water Cooled Wet Sharpening System and the TORMEK Stone Grader. Make an ADAPTER...

I just checked on the idea of using a hardened nail to true up the wheel on the WEN®. Here's what I think; although it is a very simple and elegant solution to the task at hand, the problem I have identified, which may be particular to the WEN®, is that one must rest the nail on the water trough...

WEN BG4270T 10-Inch Water Cooled Wet Sharpening System and the TORMEK Stone Grader. Make an ADAPTER...

I had some scrap Al+ of nearly the right size. It had some holes already drilled in it, but that did not concern me, as it would still function. I marked and drilled on a drill press, then band-sawed it in half, drilled and tapped for some knobs I had on hand, then used a sander and files to...

WEN BG4270T 10-Inch Water Cooled Wet Sharpening System and the TORMEK Stone Grader. Make an ADAPTER...

This is the problem; with the TORMEK® truing tool/grader installed on the WEN®, the diamond nib does not reach the far end of the stone, as in the two pics below: As an aside, I will further make note that the TORMEK® and JET® brands of tool rests do not fit the WEN® machine. So, with the...

WEN BG4270T 10-Inch Water Cooled Wet Sharpening System and the TORMEK Stone Grader. Make an ADAPTER...

I really like that idea, but I wonder if my hands could keep it from turning out-of-round. My grip strength is noticeably less strong than in my youth. In other words, I suspect I might follow the dips in the stone, even just a little.

If you have a WEN® sharpener, or any of the multitude of other TORMEK® clones, and you want to use the TORMEK® stone grader (TT-50 Truing and Dressing Tool), you will soon discover that it does not work with the WEN®. The TORMEK® Stone grader (TT-50 Truing and Dressing Tool): So, I made an...
