• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Help please with RJ45 - RJ11 cable problem

It probably should be a cross over cable, if you think of a comms bus then the Tx will go to Rx and the Rx to Tx at each end but I would say the clue is in Have you ask about any details, it might be some form of VOIP system or a phone system on a LAN.

A *Heads Up* again at Lidls 16-04-2026

For that money you would not bother to sharpen them, buy ten lots and keep bashing. Problem will be you end up with all the least used sizes and non of the most used at which point just get them sharpened.

    Reverse order

In the thread that list forthcoming events and shows it would be more helpful to have the latest post at the top and not at the bottom . thanks

    Modern cooking — a rant.

There was a time when cooking was just something done without any fuss and things had to be prepared, vegetables peeled and time spent in the kitchen but now the newer lot want less time in the kitchen and use frozen stuff as well as eating total carp from takeaways. They are also more easily...

    Dividers for book shelves

Maybe I should patent it, these could be sold with a custom book tittle on them.

    Covid Spring booster jab

Are we not supposed to have herd immunity by now so our own bodies are ready and waiting, there is a new strain on the way but that effects younger people a lot more so we should be ok.

    Dividers for book shelves

You could be creative and make the dividers thicker and mimic a book.

Workshop Companion reaches a million subs!

It sounds pretty sad if youtube just boils down to traffic and likes, that also says a lot about who is watching this stuff as they might now only have the attention span of a goldfish which does not bode well for the future of skilled people.

Workshop Companion reaches a million subs!

If you had some big stick on eyelashes and plenty of pig fat injected into your lips I believe that helps today as people don't see much past the person and the content becomes secondary, it is all about there misbelief that they are "influencers" but who is influenced by anyone with no...

Workshop Companion reaches a million subs!

Why not do a video about how to do a video for people around here, might bring more topic's if people have an idea how to approach the subject.

    Co-op Rip Off Insurers

But this is because to many people now feed of the insurance system, the process is just ridiculous. We had a wing mirror damaged and claimed off the other driver. We could get a new mirror supplied and fitted whilst we waited by a local garage, no paint required as they come color matched...

    Co-op Rip Off Insurers

All insurance companies will try it on because so many do not querry the renewal and just pay it. Always phone and haggle as we have saved a lot over the years. Is this car or buildings ?

    A question for the electricians

That is the stupidity of it all, kettles and Hoovers are now restricted but it has not changed the laws of physic's. Half the power of your kettle and it takes twice as long to boil but it is worse than that because during that longer boil period you also lose more of the heat being put in...

    A question for the electricians

They may well work but the power would be flowing into a socket then potentially out of another to feed a load so using part of the installation but downstream of the main board and any protective devices. The other issue is the means of earthing, the protection will only exist when it is...

    A question for the electricians

The electrical instalation was designed as a distribution system where you have an incoming supply that feeds various loads via protective devices, it was never designed to run in reverse where power is fed in downstream of protective devices and can feed loads where the installed protective...

    A question for the electricians

Much better to heat water that can be stored rather than produce electricity which requires an invertor. Think of your garden hose in summer, laid out in the sun all day and then in the evening you want to water the garden and it comes out hot enough to burn.

Festool Track Saw Dust Port Improvement

I have been waiting five weeks for a set of field windings from Festool for a Domino 700 so don't get your hopes up to soon.

    Conversion - bathroom to en-suite

These wall hung toilets must require some serious wall reinforcing in a modern house, the concept of the close coupled cistern was that the weight of the cistern / water would be transfered into the foor via the pan rather than loading a flimsy stud wall and now they want to hang a toilet on...

How The Spindle Moulder Gained Its Notoriety

Some of those almost look like a slice from a P/T cutter block and use that same screw arrangement to wedge the blades in so if it comes loose that blade will be ejected outwards harder than kickback on a table saw. It looks like the newer blocks actually retain the blades which is much safer.

How The Spindle Moulder Gained Its Notoriety

Some of those cutter blocks look really barbaric and I can see why the router table became more popular for home use than a spindle moulder.
