• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Reclaimed sapele

That’s Looks a little bit like Iroko, it has a natural oil content, and feels waxy. When gluing structural joints make sure you clean the joints with acetone or the joint will fail

    Oak Sleeper Raised Beds

I’ve witnessed pressure treated timber rot in under 10 years, also seen insect attack it. Makes you wonder if is snake oil. Old engine oil just keep working!

    Reclaimed sapele

I was taught those little white bits in Iroko (sometimes big bits) was silica, hit a big bit and your cutting edge is gone.

    Reclaimed sapele

Could be as mix of teak and mahogany family. I once bought an old school science lab at auction and my haul looked very similar to Lons . I get nose problems with Iroko and some of the timber gave me problems others didn’t. Made some super kitchen work tops

It's curtains for me - what on earth do I do with this?

The powder stuff!! I keep a bag to do plaster board repair stuff. Also here in Spain the builders use Yeso rápido for holding things and repairing, I think it’s a type of plaster of Paris.

    Good stuff!

I’m another big fan of polymer silicone. I’ve found one that tools up nicely which is one of the negatives of CT1. The only thing I’ve ever had it fail on is that horrible composit decking. Apparently it also works under water.

    White “Faskut” saw
