• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Blood pressure

I have mixed faith in the N.H.S. The points made above re practice nurses overstepping their training and competency resonate strongly with me. Equally, the over-worked practice G.P.'s here are excellent, and when one is in dire straits, they move fast and effectively. They are let down by...

The Benefits Of A Hobby After Retirement

I retired from teaching in June 2017. Our family unit was small, only 8, and almost immediately, we moved 253 miles (and "across the water") to consolidate it, be nearer our children. Cancer and Covid claimed two, one lost his job, marriage and mother in four months; another has just had major...

    Blood pressure

Hyponatraemia. My late wife had it as a complication of the Big C. She was incapacitated (read wheeelchair) for over a fortnight and hospitalised for a week of that. A very serious condition, which even intravenous salts (multiple ions) did not sort out for well over 10 days. Take care Folks...

    Blood pressure

Coming late to this, I ask two questions: a)How many of their group have actually had it done out of the entire group? b) What are the clinical (N.H.S.) statistics for this procedure? I have a hidden motive; my daughter went through ablation for C.V.T.; successfully, over a decade ago, aged...

    Blood pressure

Steve, I can only speak to oxygen saturation. Measured with a finger oximeter by shining specific light wavelengths onto surface capillaries, of which, the nail bed is the most easily accessed. The watch light emitter is similar, buried underneath the watch body, but the wrist skin capillaries...

And nobody, but nobody, has complimented Steve for his accurate recreation of Emperor Palpatine 😳. Nice one, Steve.

    Blood pressure

Thanks Phil. I - for various bad reasons - didn't take my Indapamide, Losartin, Amlopidine, Atorovastatin (etc!) for two days last week and scared myself silly with 171/91. It took two days to return to 124/79, where I stubbornly reside; I need to lose a lot of avoirdupois....like you said...

    Blood pressure

Hmmmmmmm.....blood vessels dilate to flush hot blood up to the skin's surface to cool you. By definition, more available 'area' for blood to pass through, equals lower pressure. Simple human physiology. It neglects to balance an apparently benevolent measurement with the damage caused by heat...

    Blood pressure

I'm on several b.p. meds. I'm a Type 2 diabetic and have had Chronic Kidney Disease, Stage 3a....so, I keep a wary eye on b.p., stats, meds and diet. From this, I have a healthy scepticism toward 'smart watch' diagnostics. Mine regularly misrepresents saturation and pressures - as compared to...

Terminology - Two countries, separated by a common language

I have no objection. The matter has been aired. Done.

Terminology - Two countries, separated by a common language

Your assertion stands. It is just that, an assertion. Employing for a workforce with a narrowly defined job description does, by definition, lead to a blinkered approach. You can see only the necessities(?) defined by the profession. As to your anecdote re one single Maths Grad with stupendously...

Evidence please? You obviously have not paid attention to the everlasting debate on exam grades vs difficulty. It has only bern going on for five or more decades. If you are not careful, you will start to sound like Michael Gove; by far the most deleterious influence on modern U.K. education...

You want to hear what a Northern Ireland accent can do to "mirror", "tower" and "towel"...."mirrr", "tourrr" and "toul". I have more.
