• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Amen. Brusque, rude, uncompromising and convinced of their own stature and position in this world. Or, come to typing the above, I wondered is that symptomatic of a certain stratum of Murricanes generally?

Retirement , what is the end game.

I retired nearly ten years ago to look after my terminally ill wife. We lived in Belfast, all our friends were there, but 15 months later, we moved 300miles to the British mainland, north-east coast, as our three (no longer) dependants all had careers and lives "across the water" and it made...

    Conversion - bathroom to en-suite

Totally agree. My plumbing over the last thirty years was influenced by my good friend Roy, a professional plumber of very wide experience, including a spell 'on the rigs' in the Libyan desert. He was 'the man' for all things water-related in the public school where I worked, teaching 900...

    Conversion - bathroom to en-suite

That's not chipboard Roger; it's Oriented Strand Board. I'm quite surprised it was deteriorated; it is normally more resistant to water penetration than chipboard (save the green MR version). I read that circumstance as prolonged exposure to a leak. He really were a bodger wern 'e? Edit: Or...

If I remember correctly: a mixture of glycerin, water, and alcohol. Spray or souse it on, depending on section, allow to soak in. Edit, from Joe Woodworker: "There's an old veneer softener recipe of consisting of 3 parts water, 2 parts yellow glue, 1 part vegetable glycerin".

    Google’s AI

Seconded. I would add the suspicion that as it weighs ALL available references to a given topic, the preponderence of mis- and dis- information CAN skew the reported 'summary' and a high concentration of sodium chloride may assist 'digestion'.
