• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Tumble driers

We need to replace our 20 year old Zanussi tumble drier. It is a condenser model. The dilemma is do we stick with the condenser type or switch to the newer heat pump style. I have read lots of reviews, the heat pump versions seem to take a long time to dry clothes. If anyone has any experience I...

    Hinges for boxes

I think this is the best place for this question. Some time ago I made a pen box from MDF wrapped in Ostrich hide. As the hide is outragously expensive I bought an off cut which happened to be orange and made a sample from it. It was a good thing as the lid sides were not deep enough for the...

I would very much like to return to making small boxes, mainly for pens possibily cigars. Looking at the recent edge planing thread on hand tools I had considered a shooting board and long plane. My project for the next year is to convert our garage into a utility room / tempoary kitchen. I need to start with the door, I am ashamed to say I have not touched this door since we moved in 21 years ago. Lidl today 15/10

I may have mentioned before I use the Lidl small rotary tools mainly for sanding the edges of leather and making small wooden parts for my cases.
