• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

My Favourite Sandwich - Yes a lame post.

A fresh chunky Ciabatta roll, cut through middle about 80%, 20% is the ‘hinge’ for lid. Smear a good layer of butter (saltless) on both halves. Grate on some cheddar and mozzarella. Sprinkle some sliced olives (no pips). Some thinly sliced tomato (must be firm). Some black pepper ground over the...

    Xmas

Not found one yet. The mince pies are far too sweet, not really a favourite. Xmas cake is good (just remove all that funny white stuff on top :))

    Trees

Having actually done very little scroll work this year, helping GS edged me on to cut 2 trees. GS education: https://www.thewoodhaven2.co.uk/threads/aspiring-woodworker-visit-2.11234/ The left tree is similar to GS except I kept all the rounded corners. The lights are same as previous years...

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

Mike, what do you use to wipe off the finish? I use some old linen shirts, no fluff, and then hang them up to dry. (combustion) For final rub it is old jocks.

    Any numismatists on here ?

Yes, started about 1960 (pocket money well spent) Rog a lot depends on the quality of the coin. Proof - highly polished blanks with no marks including fingers! Collectable, good price. UNC Uncirculated - not as good as Proof, but collectable Then is goes down into, wear on the surface: F -...

Wife has the CD in the car and eventually I threatened to break it - all Christmas music - panpipes gets monotonous

    Best Tape Measure

Interesting discussion to see what people use, an everyday item in the workshop. My collection: 3 X Stanley Power Lock 3000mm all metric. One next to the computer and other 2 on workbench. 1 Webco 3000mm which is metric and imperial. This was a factory issue when doing quality audits and is...

    Pestle

I found these the other day in a box (looking for cutting pattens). They were turned about 15 years ago on the 1930's Walker Turner. The bed was about 1000mm long, all cast-iron and weighed in at about 100kg++. Turning on it was a pleasure. One speed, raw power. I had trimmed our wild Olive and...

    Cheap Christmas tree !

Has potential, added to my tree collection. I would do it slightly smaller for storing 11 months of the year. Also add some lights and then add another slat to the top. LED lights are dirt cheap, replacing the batteries becomes expensive.
