• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Dust extraction.

I am correct in assuming that hood will only be useable on your PT when doing short pieces? Or do I misunderstand how you are planning to use it?

    Dogs’ understanding of time

I grew up with Great Pyrenees (and Bernese Mountain Dogs). They have a fond place in my heart. Maremmas are quite a bit smaller, but in my limited experience (this is just our second rescue of that breed) they are more intelligent. They come close to what Border Collies can do. But, because they...

    Dogs’ understanding of time

Hmm, I think I should have phrased that a bit differently, because I do definitely agree with you that dogs have a memory. Just like you, I have seen enough examples of that in my own dogs. What I meant to express was that dogs don't "think" of the past or the future. They build on experience...

    Dogs’ understanding of time

As far as I have read the research dogs don't have an actual sense of time as such. They live in the now. But they are very good at associating. They will easily recognise a recurring pattern when it involves something that is important to them. In your example it is likely your dog has...

Workshop Companion reaches a million subs!

I am afraid you might be close to the truth there. My friend's daughter really is quite smart and does very well in university. But I don't think she has ever read a full book that she didn't have to for school in her whole life. When I asked why, her answer was "boring" and "takes too long"...

Workshop Companion reaches a million subs!

I don't think it is you. It is the way Youtube works nowadays. It is less and less about good content and more and more about clicks. To me it has come to a point where I consider Youtube almost unusable. I never watch it directly anymore, if at all. I prefer to grab the video first with some...

So it is Spring now, for me it's still Winter

Nice! I had heard about that story in the past, but had forgotten the details. I read there is a valley in Japan that is filled with prunus that are all from the same genetic ancestor. They all come into bloom at almost exactly the same time. The photos were absolutely spectacular! I think I...

Workshop Companion reaches a million subs!

That shows you don't have to pull funny faces or have the weirdest titles in all caps to have a wonderful channel. I like his style too. Well deserved in my opinion.

    Bois de Steve

Ha. I wish. I never even came close to confessing to her. We always were "just good friends", until our ways separated when we went to different universities. I never saw her again. But a student of mine happened to work for her and when I found out he told me how she was nowadays. Ouch! Not the...

    Bois de Steve

Nice way to remember her by! Life can be strange and confusing. My love in high school never knew about my crush. 30 Years later I was told by the mother of another girl in my class that girl had a crush on me without me ever knowing. If only we had spoken up, who knows what might have...

    Conversion - bathroom to en-suite

I am in the process of rebuilding the bathroom in our house in Sweden and bought a wall-mounted toilet for it. I use this frame: Geberit Duofix Element UP320 and according to the documentation it will handle up to 400 kg. I don't think the weight will be a problem. Not even for the generous types...

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

I really should put that LP on the pickup again soon. It took way too long for that coin to drop. Even after you pointed me in the right direction.

How The Spindle Moulder Gained Its Notoriety

I am learning a lot from this thread (and also gaining renewed respect for my Felder KF 500). Thanks for posting this. As others said, very interesting indeed.

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

Oops. Either I misremembered or I never had it right all that time. Are you gonna do that as an inlay with contrasting wood?

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

Ah, I never thought to open up the cover! If I remember correctly that line was supposed to be a heartbeat.

Of all the titles on that album only "Money", "Eclipse" or "On the Run" seem to be fitting. Money doesn't sound like something you'd put on your project. And I can't imagine you're on the run from something/someone, so maybe eclipse?

So it is Spring now, for me it's still Winter

Those look like real (wild) daffodils to me, not one of the the cultivated species. Are they? They look great indeed!

The trees are not getting green yet, but the garlic, lovage and rhubarb are doing really well with this early warm spring weather.

    Clamp of Theseus

Right you are. But now you got me doubting myself  , so I took a look at the Feine Werkzeuge website. It says Weißbuche, which is indeed hornbeam.
