• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Heritage Home Moved To Allow A Condo Development

Mike, look up "Folk and Transport Museum, Cultra". They are/were experts in numbering, dismantling, rebuilding, masonry structures. A stone (setts) cottage my father knew well was moved 60 miles to the museum, and when he visited its new site, he was struck by the faithful re-erection; even...

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

Malc, me ol' China, I'd far rather be a pedant than a lazy peasant, mangling a perfectly articulate language!😁 May your adverbs always be properly modified (not conjugated) and your neologisms elegant 😇. Sam, who has used Classical derivations all his working life. Valete!

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

Nice one!! On that subject, it just me, but does a 'talking head' saying "a criteria" instead of "a criterion" grate with you? "Funj-aye" instead of "Fung-Ee"...my old Latin master would have had apoplexy. Several times. Noisily.

    I know I shouldn't, but...

We're apolitical, and rightly so; ergo, I have no intention, wish, or inclination to even obliquely initiate a thread that might be viewed as 'taking a side'. But. May I please make a philosophical (and emphatically rhetorical) point? The world is in a poor place. It's scary. The Orwellian...

    A little table

Seconded. Absolute common sense - and it looks good too! Much, much better than a thoughtless 45° bashed out with a screaming 3hp router.

    Snoring

😳😳 and - in my innocence, I thought most of the previous posters were "normal"....now, I learn of bondage, insertions and Gawd-only-knows-what is the 'new normal'. 😳 I lead such a sheltered life: proper flannel jammies, just turn on my left side to stop snoring; my right ear is my bad one see...

    Workshed ventilation

Two years ago, I took delivery of a 16'x10' "prefab" shed for the heritage railway I volunteer at, to act as "The Woodworking Kabin".... The dimensions, construction and siting were all decided and ordered 'above my head' and a camel duly arrived. They insisted on a perimeter of...

    Hi Everyone

Oh, Gawd...first chance to form a faction, and he's off! 😎 Despite Trim's hierarchical ambitions, good to have you aboard, Kev. Just remember: "no question.is a stupid question". We were all in blissful(?) ignorance at some point.

    Toolbox

Three DeWalt stackable boxes for "mobile" jobs like the 180 mile round trip for fixing my bairn's kitchen. An open Stanley tote with side pockets for the 30 most used tools at the heritage railway a mile away where I volunteer and a 16'x8' garage for all the big stuff. Plunbing Gawd knows...

Rob, DO NOT go to the aid of this Neanderthal, should he show up again and hurt himself badly. Given his utter lack of will to protect himself, we may safely extend same to his disease precautions....and safely assume thereby, his blood contains transmisible nasties. I know some paramedics...
