• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Connector Systems

No I don't have a need for one at the moment but if I did I'd be tempted to take the risk and give one a go, Alixpress do accept returns and give refunds so it might not be that much of a risk. I put a kitchen together with CAM DOWELS last year, I used cam dowels because I wanted an inexpensive...

Chopping Board V Inaly on CNC

Cheers, I would say that it might pay to write down the sequence before starting to build up the tool paths. I did find it was better (necessary) to keep track of the toolpaths and put each in a separate folder when saving them to my USB flash drive. At first I used two clerance tools 6mm and...

Chopping Board V Inaly on CNC

LoL Andy... Chicken Ron is my father who is in his 90's and you might have guessed he keeps 🐔🐥🐥🐥🐥 The actual chopping board is from "The Range" I know it's a bit of a cheat but it was for christmas and I did not have enough time to glue my own board up then do the CNC Vcarve inlay. The wood...

Chopping Board V Inaly on CNC

I watched this video before going ahead and found it one of the best tutorials on the subject Malc: https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=Vetric+V+carve+inlay&mid=36BAEFE76A00C1AAF4D836BAEFE76A00C1AAF4D8&FORM=VIRE

Chopping Board V Inaly on CNC

Hi all this is a little project of mine over christmas, it is not a project worth posting in the main project section as there is not enough pictures or other detaile of the process but might be of interest to some so putting it up here. I had a play with a new feature of Vetric V carve, the...

CNC, LASER and 3DPrinting Section Needed?

There is a difference between CAD: "Computer Aided Design" and CNC: "Computer Numeretical Control" in that one is for design and the other is manufacture controlled machines by numeretical control. CAM: "Computer Aided Manufacture" software is what is used to produce the toolpaths for a CNC...

CNC, LASER and 3DPrinting Section Needed?

CNC production and computer numerical controlled machines are a world apart from the everday operator controlled woodwork machinery that we operate by feeding in timber by hand and in person. A CNC machine is programmable equipment that can autonomously performs operations, once programmed...

CNC, LASER and 3DPrinting Section Needed?

Hi Mods and forum users I am just putting it out to the moderaters and forum users that this forum lacks a dedicsted CNC/LASER/3D PRINTER section and just wonder why? All of the above equipment have become very well intergrated with the woodworking industry in recent years. A lot of DIY...

Oak Timber frame (and formally a Diminished stile door (markup and cutting the diminished part?))

Just found some photos of how I produced the diminished middle rail cut on the stiles (Nor actual Gunstock stiles). These are the doors I made: The above doors are just rebated on the inside at the top. Above you can just see where the stile joint at meeting the rebate is diminished. It's...

    CAD system for woodworking

I have looked at Polyboard which is parametric cabinet software it's £2245 for the base version which lets you design cabinets from sheet material or £4145 for the version that lets you output files to run on a CNC. I have not taken a full look at the software yet, just started playing around...

Oak Timber frame (and formally a Diminished stile door (markup and cutting the diminished part?))

The type of door the Op describes is a Gunstock style door in which the bottom stiles are kept full width and the top stiles are reduced where they meet the middle rail. I am pretty sure a bolechin moulding was used traditonally around the bottom panels, this could be on both inside and outside...

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

I guess you have given enough pre-design thought into it before setting out on the construction Mike, it was just a thought that sprang to mind regarding my own experience. It's an amazing project to add to the woohaven2 site which is interesting to follow, good thread!

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

Just wondered how you are going to join the roof panels to the side panels Mike? My cravan has Alutech panels which are joined using aluminium extrusions these overlap the outter aluminium panels and are sealed using a flexible sealant. There can be a lot of flexing when on the road so I guess...

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

I have taken a scan through this thread Mike and it looks like a very unusual woodworking project. We have a caravan and boat too, I recently changed the trailer on my speedboat and found I needed to move the axel about 600mm to the rear of the trailer to obtain the right balance. The axel on...

How would you knock these out?

Steves idea of cutting through long lengths using a dado head sounds good but you don't have one so why not rough out with a normal table saw blade the finish with a router. Then use a router with template to cut out the shapes. This sort of thing coluld be suited to a CNC machine as you would...
