• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Daughters Kitchen final stages Handles and floor now done.

The edge bander is very handy and a lot quicker than using an Iron but because it's not got a long lead in or out the front and end edging sometimes lift a bit so needs a firm press with an Iron after but otherwise very useful. The cutters are really good for thin melamine edging and a doddle to...

Daughters Kitchen final stages Handles and floor now done.

After a bit of a delay I have started to make a bit of progress on my daughters kitchen: All together the kitchen has a mix of sheets MR MDF for doors and trim and MFC for doors draws and panels. 14 Sheets all together 8 MFC and 6 MR MDF, by the time I took this picture I had already cut down...

    Larger router bit use. P

This might sound wrong to some but as Trevanion has said only run the router bit at the recommended speed if it get hot or you see smoke the speed (RPM) is too fast and not allowing the cutter time to cut hence rubbing and burning rather than cutting. Also don't linger in the wood most people...

    Treads for metal staircase

I was wondering but now see what you mean having to share your workshop with cars makes quite a difference. All of my machines are on wheels and the cars live outside mostly. I do keep an MG Midget under cover and it lives with some of my machines but has to go outside when I am machining then...

    Treads for metal staircase

An interesting thread but just wonder why: A RAS (Radial Arm Saw) is usually placed in a position allowing for cutting long lengths of timber either side so is your problem space or other?

Kity sliding table attachment for benchsaw why not the spindle Moulder?

My Rojek spindle moulder with Kity sliding carriage. All I did was drill the holes for the brackets in the fromt plate of the Rojek and adjust it to line up with the table. On the right is my original Kity 623 spindle moulder which I have had for many years now. The Kity 623 spindle...

Kity sliding table attachment for benchsaw why not the spindle Moulder?

I have not seen any of the kity sliding tables come up for sale and I have been looking for several years. When I had my Kity saw with sliding table I made an attachment to go on my Rojek spindle moulder so I could use the sliding part on bth my Kity saw and Rojek spindle but when I sold the...

Kity sliding table attachment for benchsaw why not the spindle Moulder?

I had a kity table saw with the sliding carriage as you show (tubular bars) but later sold it to move on to a SCM table saw. I later purchased a Kity spindle moulder with the more modern sliding table as shown above (solid aluminium rail) which I think was introduced by scheppach, the company...

    Workshop roof design

You do not need rafters to bolt floor joist to. Floor joist normaly rest on either wall plates at either side of a building or on intermidiate walls. They can be built into walls but also they do sometimes rest on Joist hangers built into a wall etc. Floor joist are normally supported by...

    Looking for these mouldings

Sorry to hear that Roger (you feel you want to sell your home and move), I did the drawing to get a grasp of the dimensins of your moulding. IF you want to have a bash, I think one method of obtaining the cutter profile is to cut the moulding on the same angle as it would be machined by the...

    Workshop roof design

You do not need to use rafters with either insulated or not insulated sheeting...it is not the correct method of construction for this sheeting. On a low pitched roof the rafters will push outwards at the eaves (they have a tendency to push outward anyway) so if you ususe rafters you will need...
