• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Daughters Kitchen final stages Handles and floor now done.

Thank you I have a few photos of the opposite side to post later. The upper cabinets were fixed together using cam dowels and stayed fairly square but the walls behind were out quite a lot which made lining up the cabinets a bit difficult. I did an initial fit then a final batten down once I...

Daughters Kitchen final stages Handles and floor now done.

Been busy so not had the time to post updates but here are a few pics of the kitchen I've been working on: Initial setting up of the units. One side of the kitchen set up in position. The kitchen has 14 units which makes it a medium size kitchen but we fit a lot in and it was very tight...

    Chair repair

I think what mike has said about teasing the corner joint apart would be a first go to. If you can't ease the corner joint apart I'd be tempted to use a dovetail saw on the corner saw it through then tease the broken joint apart clean it for re-fitting. I would be very tempted to use expoy...

Best way for Fixing Laminate upstands

Hi all got some laminate worktops to fix then some laminate upstands to. As I have not had the privilege of installing laminate upstands before I wonder what method people have used to successfully hold the upstands in place. I'm thinking maybe use Sticks Like Sh.t.

Sometimes one can be too clever...

I did wonder as you said you should be moving. Looks like a nice big kitchen makes ours look like a utility room.

How is the lock finding getting on? I have not fit a lift and slide mechanism, but have adjusted a few and as has been mentioned to start of gaining access you would start by removing the handle cover which often just slide over the handle and clip in position. Once removed you can access the...

    Cutting post formed laminate worktops

Thank you for the advice regarding if the room is out of square and the possible problem of pulling up the masons mitre, it is far better to know in any potential problems in advance than making a mistake and wishing you had done things differently! Sounds like the Wealden bits would be a good...

    Mike's ext'n & renovation (solar panels)

It's nice to see the correct type of nails being used on such doors, the shape helps to keep the door from dropping.

    Cutting post formed laminate worktops

Hijack...Not at all, it worthy mention. The first kitchens I fit had sheet formica for worktops (the old days of formica worktops and evo-stik) the next few had metal jointing strips and it's only in the past 25 years that I think I have ever used a router and worktop jig and then only about...

    Anti-rust paper

I guess it's your house and outbuildings too, so up to you to decide. Maybe a project in the next few summers ahead.

    Anti-rust paper

It is such a shame you are having these problems but it sounds like to fix them you need to take the tiles off and re-roof the building using a decent underfelt. Something for next year during the warm weather.

    Cutting post formed laminate worktops

A lot of useful information there. I never thought of doing it that way (the reference edge) but makes sense. I have never used a coloured compound for worktops (Not done many with a jig either) but the worktops are Howdens and they have included compound in the delivery. Is it just a resin...

    Cutting post formed laminate worktops

Hi all been working on a kitchen for my daughter and about to start fitting it next week sometime. I have fit a lot of units and kitchens in the past but not a huge amount of postformed laminated worktops using a worktop jig. In the past, when on my own jobs, I have simply used a router and...

    Another tool chest

Looking at the joints and construction details of your tool chest just blows me away! I admire your dedication to detail and the kill you have built up to create such a piece. I think many woodworkers on here are far more skilled than many of the professinal carpenters and joiners I work with at...
