• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Now for the Chairs

They do look very bandy on the photo. I will check them. As I copied someone else’s design I hope not. It was not a concern I had whilst making the legs.

    Now for the Chairs

As you know, if you saw my posts about photos, I am having trouble uploading photos. I am however making great progress with my chairs. Here is a teaser.

    Photo size?

Re-sizing on the Mac does not seem to work. I tried saving them as JPEG and reducing the file size to 1.3MB. But that failed. New photos since I changed all the camera settings are OK. Tis beyond my pay grade and my IT expert is in Toronto for Xmas.

    Photo size?

Hmm. I have just changed the format as you suggest and I still cannot upload a file. I had no problem until recently when I changed phones. I can still upload older photos. OK so I have changed the Photo Mode from 24MP to 12MP and can now upload. Looks like I will need to re-size all photos...

    Photo size?

I got a new iPhone and so the photo sizes are even bigger 2.2mb seems to be average. I cannot upload them to the forum is there a quick way to re-size them for uploading on the forum or will I need to host them on my one drive and re-size them?

    Now for the Chairs

After what feels like eternity, I have finished sanding ball and clawfoot feet. All 12 of them. There is still a lot of sanding to do but the worst is done. No doubt there will be some further work on the feet but they are sufficiently advanced for me to move on to gluing the front legs...

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

Well done. It looks great. Perfect proportions for the room. In a month I will be wishing I wrote down the exact combination of stain and grain filler on my table. When I get to applying finish to my chairs.

You could put the other 10 on the backs of the chairs.

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

I used to use photo mount but now I use hide glue (as I use it for furniture glue ups, it is to hand) I am finding it very good as it washes off so clean up is quick. The only down side is it is a tad slippery to start gluing the paper down. It soon gets sticky so maybe I need to be patient...

Will you paint the letters or leave them natural?

You wanted it to look old a gnarly but worried about fake gnarly. Now you have real gnarly. Make feature if it.

Why I don’t do car engine maintenance any more

What are these engine things. Spark plugs? What are these things you speak of? There is a frunk in the space you mention. I moved to electric 8 years ago. No maintenance needed. However they still do Friday cars. My current Audi is a nightmare. But so far the problems have been human error...

We are probably our own worst critic but it is still hard to balance this.

Sanding Aaaarrggh! It is slow work. When you think you are done a photo shows where more work is needed.

    Chairs - Done!

Looking very good. Shape as much as possible before glue up.
