• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Don't forget to listen when your machines talk to you

Yes it was a narrow escape from having to machine off the bearing block and make a new one! Spares for this Delta 380 are from unobtainium.

Don't forget to listen when your machines talk to you

The last time I run some timber through the thicknesser, it made a strange groaning noise when I switched it off. Tried again and more groans. Yesterday I decided to investigate. One of the drive chains was really tight on the tension side and all the slack on the other. The tight side was tuned...

In that case, warranty support is certainly the way to go to sort out obscure faults like this. Good Luck

Lathe has taken to running backwards

Having just looked at the manual, I see the fwd rev is a single button that toggles between the two states and it is just possible that the push button is out of sync with the display. I can't anything in the manual about being able to reset to factory settings. Maybe just get used to it (?)...

Lathe has taken to running backwards

No that was not what I suggested. Read it again. Most likely is a problem with the direction control switch or the control wiring to the inverter

Single phase motor or is it electronic variable speed? If the former, check the starting capacitor.

    Endoscope

I would cut out that cream 90 degree bend and replace with a Tee with the extra port facing the sky. Fit with a blanking plug so you can use it as a rodding eye to clear the blockage.

    Unorthodox box making.

I would not claim to have a fraction of the skills of the several box makers who frequent these parts and invariably have problems of one sort or other when cutting off the lid. One method I have tried is to use the table saw to cut most of the depth of the sides leaving a mm or so to cut by...

I think I’d trust the Tapo ones from TP link for about a tenner or 30 quid for four.

    Be warned Meross Smart Plug

Big Clive (you tube) did a teardown and repair on another make of these things and found the relay to be underrated for 13 amp resistive load let alone for an appliance with motors in. To be sure, go for a known brand or just use them on light loads. Two each of two brands that so far are...

    Nice chest, needs minor repairs.

In UK we have a spray called Febreze. Somehow it work to remove smells rather than mask them with a stronger one. I acquired an upholstered chair from a house of heavy smokers and several heavy sprays with this stuff removed the smell completely such that a closely applied nose detected nothing...

    Etherial smart meter??

Rob, I would be extremely surprised if you removed your smart meter. you may well have discarded the in home display but the smart meter - almost certainly and older type SMETS1 standard meter will still be present and "phoning home" your meter readings possibly every 1/2hr.

    Etherial smart meter??

My understanding is that you can no longer have a conventional normal/dumb meter. They are no longer made and refurbished ones are on the resale market only. You can opt to have smart meter fitted which is then programmed to behave like a dumb meter so that you have to submit readings. However...

    Good value hinges sought

The hinges turned up the other day and very pleased with them. Holes drilled in line, countersinks fit the screws supplied. They have a matt drawn finish which I prefer but could be polished if needed. If I wanted to be picky, the hinge pin is of a different grade/colour brass from the leaves...

Drill press fence control using RC gearing parts

As per Andy's reply. repeat drilling of holes in line. My fence runs in tee slots on the drill table with bristol levers to lock in any desired position. IMHO there is no need to have it move parallel as in the OP.
