• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Shed rebuild

2 more up tonight. Flipping never-ending this job 1 more required on that side, then just the front wall to do either side of doorway. Edit. And 1 up before breakfast An overview of the roof material in clearer weather for anyone else considering epdm. It does actually have factory seams...

    Shed rebuild

Still at it. Did a few hours last night cutting the next 2 boards and installing 1 extra stud required for the board edge. Then tonight just had to staple the vapour sheet and screw in the prepared boards. These are old boards I’m reusing hence the dark colour (they’ve been soaked multiple...

    Shed rebuild

Just to keep my thread up to date. A ghostly green glow I know it might not need it but a) I have it so might as well use it b) it might help to keep spiders out These boards now screwed. It’s all feeling more firmed up now these are screwed up.

    Shed rebuild

I have added a temporary batten to the front. My main aim for these battens is to stop the wind getting under and lifting the epdm, and after the winter I’ll probably do as suggested and buy 3 lengths of fascia board (both sides + front) when I’ve got a bit more money. I also have started...

    Shed rebuild

Light bit of drizzle this morning but I can at least see the drip trim works! And as predicted one of the side noggins does have water tracking back to it. I will probably fit a drip trim to this side too, it’s not visible really so looks won’t be a concern. Water tracking over the side: Drip...

    Shed rebuild

Didn’t have much time today, just fitted other side batten, and did the rear. For the rear where the water will run off because of the slope, I used the same method as shown above - folded rubber over, stapled, used batten to secure. Then I added a plastic drip trim; costs about £13 for 5m...

    Shed rebuild

Well, I used a piece of OSB as a guide and used the circular saw to take 3cm off each side. It worked ok. Will rotate pics later. it now left the rubber overhanging like this: no pics of the process but then I rollered out the glue and stuck down the EPDM. Afterwards I used the contact...

    Shed rebuild

Today I got the insulation in and all boards fitted. I have to admit everything takes a lot longer than a) I plan / think and b) I would like. All went well except for the Great Unravelling of the EPDM. Of course, as I had almost suspected would likely be the case, it’s too short in one...

    Shed rebuild

Got the inside ceiling up today. I actually thought I would get this done and the outside (topside) in 1 day but no. Can’t really explain where the time went but it took a long while, the cutting and moving of large boards really. 6 boards req all had to be cut lengthwise, and 4 sections either...

    Shed rebuild

Spent today closing the eaves and joining the rafters to the cross member: Took whole day! Around about 40-odd closers required, and I’m blooming knackered from being up and down the ladder all day. All nailed in place, flush with the exterior walls to make sure birds don’t rest there...

    Shed rebuild

Side pieces done today and also put the cross member in across the middle, which was a bit difficult but got it done eventually. Overall took another day even though it doesn’t look like it. Trying to make the most of the good weather and make hay why the sun shines! One of the side joists has...

    Shed rebuild

I used the Makita. Top plates off Yes it was brutal & wandered but I couldn’t have used the circular saw, so it got the job done. My wife is killing me for spending too long on this and went ballistic when she found out I was taking all the header plates off to cut down the walls  I...

    Shed rebuild

I will taking the header plates off all round and chopping 6” off all uprights then putting back together as it’s too high and imposing. Then roof joists can go on. A load more work but in the end I've decided to do it. I've bought a reciprocating saw to chop them all down :) Corners - 3...

    Shed rebuild

you're not wrong! Rain now stopped, my protection looks like it worked and the mortar has not been washed out

    Shed rebuild

only issue is the top plate extending above the door which has bent and twisted since I made it and now doesn't meet. I have bought more wood this afternoon and will replace with straight piece tomorrow. The front and rear wall then get another head plate (so will have 2 in total) as my joists...

    Shed rebuild

Day of action! Of course peeing down now but just about managed to get it all up just as rain arrived with the help of my dad (mortar duty) and brother (lifting & placement duty) who came over. Have had to run round trying to protect the mortar with excess DPM and plastic to stop it washing...

    Shed rebuild

finally started on the making, after spending ages calculating & recalculating the measurements. The sides slope gradually up the front so each stud is a different length; I've got about a 9 cm drop front to rear. Since I'm using all the original wood I'm trying to make sure I use the shortest...

    Shed rebuild

Progress. 2 new fence panels (nearly 60 quid!) just cos it makes sense to do it now. Old ones were shot. Shed down, floor up, which was to be honest a pretty mammoth task all in all. Including unnailing all featherboard to reuse. Site clear and blocks laid to hand for brickie. nice clear...

    Shed rebuild

In the offing. I have a wooden framed shed / workshop I built 9 years ago, on a concrete base. I made it up as I went along. Roof now leaks and has sagged (rafters too thin which I knew at the time) so blue tarp put over it today. Want to rebuild in summer off 3 courses of bricks.
