• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    What have you "lost" today...?

One of the problems is the rift in the space time continuum moves round the workshop steeling the tool you last used, only five minutes ago. It holds onto things until you have bought a replacement and then pops the tool back in a really obvious place.🤔 That's why I have two crimp tools, bought...

    What have you "lost" today...?

I bought a pickup tool, when my hip was bad, still use it all the time. I have a magnet on a telescopic handle, ok for small things and a magnet from an old loudspeaker fixed to the end of a long batten for heavy things. Non of them helped when I was looking for the fibre glass chimney rods. 🙄

    What I have fixed today

While doing a bit of cleaning in the workshop, stop laughing at the back, I managed to suck something into my dist collector that snagged in the pipe work that restricted the suck! The pipe work is soil pipe that is above the rafters, not easy to access. I had bought a set of fibre glass chimney...

    Falls (not water)

I bought a new battery to add to our solar system. It was 40kg, the chap who delivered it helped to get it in the front door. Of course the batteries live in the loft, so I took it out of the box and managed to get it to the bottom of the stairs. I got it up the stairs one step at a time, but...

All the best for 2026 - any resolutions?

I am not into making resolutions, but this year I did want to get back on a two wheeled bike, and today I went go with a group of my friends, riding my summer bike. It is the lightest bike I have. It was quite strange riding in a almost upright position and no electric assist, I did 34 miles.

    Hi Dad...

The chap who sat next to me when I was working, (over ten years ago) didn't drive. He had them ring him about the accident he had when driving, his response was "do you mean the one where I killed the kid?" They hung up and he never had that type of call again. 👌

Adding a filter shaker to my Oneida cyclone

I have been thinking about doing something similar to the filters on my home made cyclone system. I have the filters on a box that is stood on the rafters on my shop. I think I need to get them stacked on top of each other rather than the current side by side set up. It is useful to see your...

The inevitable is sadly upon us…

Remember the good games, the fun and the cuddles. How happy they have been. We still talk about our dogs and cats who have passed on, with a great deal of love, remembering things they did. It's sad they don't live as long as us but they have a good life.

Anyone else own one of these?

I have two as well, used them when I milled aluminium on my CNC. Now I use them on the 3D prints to the edges.
