• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Robert Sorby Pro Edge bits and pieces

Got myself a Pro edge second hand, very excited to get sharpening! Can’t find very good info on what should have come with it, no drawings or images of what was in the box. I’ve worked out the 3 bars are for belt tracking adjustment, and there’s part of a fingernail jig which is missing a part...

    Chairs - Done!

Amazing work, you should be proud of those.

Elu MOF 96 - WIP... Repair? YES!

I have that router and the little table attachement they sold it with. The only router I own, great little router and worth repairing.

    Temptation time

I have their rail for use with my track saw - they've added so much more since I bought it. Good British manufacturing with great customer service. I cut the end off the piece of ally which supports the rail (user error) and they sent a new piece out free of charge.

    Chairs - Done!

I agree such high quality work and attention to detail, even the corner brackets are elegantly shaped.

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

Looking good Mike. I know you’ve documented it before but can’t be may people who cut dovetails with so little marking out!!

    Xmas

Homeade Christmas pud every year for us. We have made it ourselves but most years my Mum does it for us to an old family recipe. Not difficult but needs doing by stir up Sunday (this year 23rd November) to have time to mature. This year the batton has been passed any daughter made the...

    eBay listings and bladed items

That’s really interesting I did not know that about comma from the school, although it doesn’t explain the need to say knives are illegal instead of the actual law. Not sure who the woke comment is aimed at but I’d definitely fall into that category in the eyes of someone from the “other side”...

    Xmas

Just the 4 of us, which hasn’t happened since COVID as my parents aren’t coming to stay. It’ll be really nice with two teenagers as it won’t be long before they probably won’t want to be here with just us. Boxing Day will be at my parents with my brother and his family. Something we didn’t...

    eBay listings and bladed items

I’ll respond as well, worrying for the many small makers who make axes and knives for green woodworking. No doubt the licence will be an amount which is inconsequential to big business but makes it unaffordable to small makers! On a different matter, they covered knife crime in a session at my...

    From Prusa to Bambu

Super interesting comparison thanks for taking the time. I’m getting closer to buying one, as I keep coming up against things I think I could use it for. I think that’s in a good part due to how many YouTubers use them giving ideas of how to integrate into work. Interesting they are always...

    Another box WIP

Excellent work, drawer pulls in the recesses works a treat. Out of interest which 3D printer did you go for when you upgraded?

Not so much a 'build' as a 'choose one and fit it out'

Sorry not helpful but didn't you move to Somerset to get away from the damp Roger!

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

Really enjoyed this WIP Mike, the table is going to look spectacular.

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

I know very little about older furniture but is the top construction common approach? If I've understood it, the boards won't be connected to each other down their length just by the breadboard ends, is there a chance of movement or is that just part of the aesthetic? Before installing the...

    Best Tape Measure

I do like the measurements orientated in both directions. I always find the way I naturally measure as a right hander the numbers are the wrong way up - seems mad that pretty much every one is like that?! I also have a few, my go to for woodwork is a little old Woolworths one just because it is...

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

Might have missed it, but am I correct in saying you'll have 2" breadboard end so the table has the appearance of all being 2"?

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

Will those notches have anything to do with the additional leaf you have planned for one end?

Oak dining table build (complete, and inside)

I'd glue back but not try too hard to close it right up and plane away the marks. So it looks as if the owner fashioned a repair but wasn't a woodworker.

    New garage shop

Workshop envy! Seeing the earthern plaster process is really interesting I love the natural texture. Beats paint anyday!
