• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

The Bas…..s got me 11 times

I had to destroy a wasp nest last year as they had made a nuisance of themselves for the householder Done in the early morning I used nothing more than a pressure plant sprayer with water although washing up liquid solution can also be used to greater effect. The paper nest was around 4"...

The Bas…..s got me 11 times

The asian hornet already has a strong foothold in the uk Annoyingly for the beekeeper, rather than destruction, the current advice is to report them to the National Bee Unit so they can be traced back to the original nest. They hover over the entrances of bee colonies and quickly devour the...

    Bird feed holder shelter

Semi open fronted is popular with some uk species. My " redneck" birdbox was a 10l adblue container with the top half of one of the side panels chopped out with a Stanley knife and hung in the lower bough of a crabapple tree. I had forgotten about it for 18 months but sure enough there was a nest.

Not a straight edge - a cautionary tale.

The previous one proudly brought home a gravy boat from an antique shop "He let me have it for a fiver because there's no lid" she declared I flipped it over for the makers name. Wow it's dishwasher safe too....

Not a straight edge - a cautionary tale.

Trusted brand names mean less and less these days but are probably a good place to start when measuring accurately is concerned I had a headsratching half hour putting slabs down with a cheap " level" that lied ( and laughed at me) before I had the sense to test it

Charging Modern Batteries in High Ambient Temperatures.

I often see " high temperature - remove device from charger " with the android devices we use at work. I think its the lithium battery fire hazard at play. In a previous life I had to keep nicad batteries and charger in the shade for as long as possible in heatwaves.Niether would function above...
