• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Do tell. I'm not being gratuitously nosy; I have a couple of potential purchases in mind.

    Screw-adjusted plough plane

Beware the #44 if you (like me) have large mitts. It is solid metal, small aperture, and uncomfortable. The Record 405 and its 'sister' plane, the Stanley 45, with their wood/metal hybrid handles are much more comfortable.

    Needed a trammel quick.

Nicely done. "Proper job" as we say here.

M&S Wagyu - bother ye not

Rob, do you have a Costco near you?.I find their fresh produce excellent, and a cut above the high street outlets in quality, but you have to plan a little more carefully, as the quantities per pack are aimed at cafés and restaurants. Still 'doable' for small households though.

M&S Wagyu - bother ye not

I'll second Roger's observation; so do most of the 8 members of my railway conservation sub-group. We all agree: "buy fruit & veg to use right away, preferably inside 24 hours". Blueberries are a notable exception to this.

Oh...I DO like that bench! Old Lutyens had a good eye for design.

Fuse, look at your photo again, and think: " the bikkie goes in two holes cut by this blade, one on each piece of timber"? Ergo, nowt wrong with your depth setting. Blade looks fine too, nice carbide insert. As to width, was your machine fully 'plunged' when you took the photo? I suspect that...

    Screw-adjusted plough plane

I have a 405 (nigh identical to Stanley 45's) and like it. The closed handle - I find - gives a more positive grasp than the open, forward-leaning one of the 13-050 and it's ilk, where a sweaty, or oily, hand can slip off (allegedly).

    NHS - truly amazing service

Colchicine is indeed a nasty chemical, Bob. It interferes with cell replication. If you find bruises/cuts seem to be taking yonks to heal, don't 'phone the G. P., camp out in their reception until they see you and address the issue.

    NHS - truly amazing service

Good luck Adrian, I hope all goes well for you and you make a full recovery. I had a scary episode like yours this year, blood everywhere. Like you, I had a fast response from the G.P.'s. "Prostatitis" in my case, and it cleared up, but yes, God bless the N.H.S..

    We've been invaded.....

Yep. I have 2 big picture windows and 40-odd resident pigeons. Regularly get spectacular "thuds" and a subsequent 'ghost' image of preening oil, mid-pane. Rarely injurious or fatal, seemingly. Winged rats are robust?

    We've been invaded.....

FSA? Thank you for the correction; I was using too broad a brush to make the point. Whichever body it is, publicising: i.e. four potential vectors of (say) avian 'flu were in your prep area, will have the dear chaps pointing out the difference between al fresco dining loci and whatever mise en...

    We've been invaded.....

The Bass Rock is presently pure white, with...even a few woodbudgies can generate a truely surprising amount of uric acid and other solids. I'd be wary of spreading the news that your nosherie is attracting avian deposition? Think H&S inspectors visiting.
