• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    A tad of mirth

Always be kind to your dentist; they have fillings too - Rob Edit - gradually sinking to Malc's level :ROFLMAO:

    What I have fixed today

Thee and me Andy. SWIMBO is an utter menace for stuffing her jeggings pockets with bits of kitchen roll that disintegrate in the washing machine. "But I get them from work" is her only defence so of necessity I have to check all pockets before loading the washer - Rob

Same; I had to write it out! - Rob

Bathroom ceiling paint with slight texture? Recommendation?

Go and have a one on one natter with the staff in your local Brewers paint shop in Sevenoaks. We've recently found them to be really helpful as it appears the trade guys use them and pass on tips about what's good and not quite so good. They pointed us in the direction of their new ceiling...

Tooth Fairy Boxes - The finished article.

The idea of a TF box is appealing Malc and as No.1 grandson is starting to get his chompers, it's something I'll probably put on my 'tuit' list for this year...wouldn't mind a WIP to see how you make one? - Rob

    Mother of pearl

Back in the day, my grandad used to go night fishing off Clacton pier with luminous lures, which he just used to drop over the side to float near the pier stanchions. Many's the time he'd come back knackered with three or four salmon sized bass! Alas those days are long gone as the inshore...

Very short WIP - a simple clock

Always a worry with a dark wood and open grained timber! I've got round the issue with über powerful suckage on the dust extractor - Rob

    The Accidental Woodworking Club

At my first teaching job in Camberley, just after leaving uni around 1979, the then Headteacher 'asked' me to make one of those in school time, using pupils as 'willing' helpers. When I enquired if it was to be for pupils at the school to use, I found out that it was going to the Rotarians or...

    The Accidental Woodworking Club

We had a couple of series of "UK's Finest Woodworker" or some such drivel a couple of years ago which after five minutes left me reaching for the zapper, but unsurprisingly, nothing since - Rob

    Outside door frame - finished

Iroko is an obvious contender, but you'd have to drag me kicking and screaming into the 'shop for me to work with the stuff. Whichever way you slice it (no pun intended) it's a really horrible material, so the other choice for me would be Oak - Rob

Very short WIP - a simple clock

SWIMBO bought me one of those a few years ago for my clock project; I thought a lovely baroque clock face on a very contemporary clock might look odd, but it doesn't. It also was German made and not cheap - Rob

    A tad of mirth

Here's another. The past, present and future walked into a bar. It was tense.... - Rob

Best way to keep a partially drunk bottle of wine - a novel approach ?

I tend to get a few bottles in each week, current favourites are Hicks bottle conditioned 'Cornish Ale' and Greene King 'Abbot', both 5%. It has been known for No.1 daughter in Carlisle to let me sample a few local tipples when we see her at Christmas - Rob

    Hard, hard Jarrah

I notice the reference to 'we' in the text Derek...I assume you have a 'young apprentice' doing all the heavy lifting with that stuff :ROFLMAO: - Rob

Post a photo of the last thing you made...

Thanks Andy, but I wouldn't by a new Cliffie as the old green ones were IMO better...so I bought a couple of 'old skool' ones from CHT 😁 - Rob Edit - this No.4 though would be great for a newbie to the forum who needed a decent smoother at a respectable price point
