• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Anyone interested in an old Black & Decker drill?

I've been having a tidy out and have this drill press I watch to get rid of. It's a Black & Decker drill in a stand with a Morse taper chuck. I know it is low geared slow running and has been in the workshop 50/60 years or more. I am not looking for anything for it but don't want to throw it...

    A little distraction from woodworking

I have been running this job for a few months and cannot post much about it but this week we finished the temporary works installation and started to remove old iron railway lines that had been used as lintols. The iron has been corroding and was in danger of putting the wall into failure. We...

    Woodworking in a car.

Many years ago I had the pleasure of replacing/rebuilding some of the ash frame work in the original Dr Finlays 1927 Wolsley (Dr Finlays Casebook was a TV programme in the UK in the 1960s). This got me thinking that as I in the process of restoring a 2003 MGTF could I put wood into the cabin...

    I made a gate.

My sister needed a new gate to "keep the dogs in, especially Houdini", she has a couple of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, so I made a gate. It's just pine and painted but may be of interest to someone. Gate is now finished and installed so will upload a picture of that once I take one.

Got a 'new' handplane or two

Clearing out the workshop I came across a couple of handplanes, both heavily encrusted in dirt and rust and seized solid. So the tidy up got stopped and I got sidetracked. To late into the cleaning up did I think to take pictures so I'll just leave the ones I've taken of what's been done so far...
