• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Micrometer storage

I have several micrometers that see almost no use, from one years end to the next, Packing these up for storage (rust proof paper etc.) should the anvil faces be closed, or open, or clamping paper? I seem to recall, that to prevent corrosion the faces should be.... that bit I forget. Any ideas...

    What do I have here?

Recently I aquired the top saw, Disston No. 7/D7 Aged by the medallion to 1896 - 1917 (disregard it's blade it's a Tyzack.Sons & Turner. Been changed at sometime in the past) The lower saw is from my "collection" brought some years ago, because ir would fit in the tool box. No medallion or...

    Thompson Roto Stripper.

Anyone in the UK know what one is? I'm in need of spares for mine, only E-Bay USA seems to know of them but only as N.O.S with huge postage costs. Bod1

    Kity 419 table saw.

Just aquired one of these, fitted a 200mm dia. blade, which retracts fully, once the top guard is removed! I want to set this up to cut tenon cheeks, which means cutting 10mm from the top of the riving knife. Or removing the knife? I have a spare knife, so this wouldn't be a one way job. Cut or...

    Chrome Dome Screws

I have a job that requires much longer Chrome Dome screws. I have plenty of the longer slotted screws, and plenty of shorter CD screws. The question is, does anyone know what thread is used on these chrome domes? Thanks Bod1

    Stair repair.

The tread has split the riser, due to heavyweight footsteps! I propose to strengthen the back edge of the tread by screw & glue a 50 x 75 (2x3) battern, full length to prevent flexing. Good idea, or bound to failure? Thanks Bod1

    Under floor heating.

I am thinking of using under floor heating in a new extension. Currently it will be run by a gas boiler. To future proof it against the gas being replaced by a Air source heat pump, what should I specify differently to a gas boiler installation. I don't want to dig the floor up, just to change a...

    King Dick Sockets

I've just received a King Dick socket, what makes this one different, is that it has the "Hex drive" system. Rather than the normal square drive. I have Britool hex drive sockets, but have never seen or heard of King dick using this system. The socket is bright chrome finish, and doesn't look...
