• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Thanks Mike, yes hopefully in future we can have a braai - little piece of South African culture on your stoep! And then the chance to see your great little Koets in real life. I will bring real Karoo lamb.

Mike, let me applaud you too like many others here. The way you plan, execute, working with a huge variety of materials, making them fit with excellent joints, final treating/coating them and many more I can mention. Just amazing coming from a huge injury, recovered, riding your bike again (I...

Mike, maybe have a look at this. Very ployable/formable, no oils. I use it in the aerospace world - great product that could work for your grooves.

    Rain

I read a lot about the present Al Nino weather thing. Maybe this is causing all your low rainfall and heatwaves. Here in the UAE it is business as usual 48 to 50 deg C many days and then the strangest thing of heavy downpours with hail very regionally. Strongs with all the gardens, veggies and...

The 120Ah Lithium should be more than adequate for the Teardrop and a very good choice as their energy densities are upper class (lightweight for their energy storage capacities and next level with the number discharges and depth of discharge without damage while maintaining good voltage). Will...

Good to see the Victron products you bought Mike. I have used them extensively in my offroad caravans and they never missed a beat. The BMS is superb and gives a wealth of information - as you probably know. Another good choice is your Lithium Battery. So is the MPPT solar controller - very...

    What I have fixed today

Very interesting. Having a keen interest in heat exchangers, I have never seen this in South Africa in homes. Being involved in the Aerospace business I had lots to do with fresh air circulation in control rooms, shelters etc. but we have always taken in unconditioned fresh air - thereby taxing...

I wanted to ask about the mudguards too. How are you going to secure them to the body/chassis? What will the interfaces look like? Any coverings/liners on the inside for stones/water etc? The Teardrop looks really great so far! Excellent work, craftmanship, planning and materials!

Well, that day didn't go to plan.

Great to read about the progress Mike! Best wishes to a complete recovery - as you have said rather take it easy for a complete healing result. Cannot wait to read again on progress with the Tear Drop caravan - coming from a long time overlander with offroad caravans here in SA!

Well, that day didn't go to plan.

Hi Mike, just checking in. How are you recovering from the injury? (That unplanned fall..). Remember my braai proposal as summer is approaching the UK and you still cannot ride your bike. Regards from a serious hot UAE.

Well, that day didn't go to plan.

All the best Mike, wishing you a speedy recovery after such a freaky accident. I follow a lot on this forum and find it wonderful. Greetings from Abu Dhabi where I work now to help with Air Defence systems. As a hint and you know I am from SA: With your summer around the corner, even though you...

    New from SA

Hi, my name is Carel and I also got directed here via Mike's house building thread on the SA 4X4 Community Forum, which I found awesome and commendable! After a couple of visits, I have a special interest for the historical places in the UK which includes wonderful creations in woodwork. I am...
