Bob's kind of hand plane

I was the yearly old woodworking machine gathering (Arnfest) this weekend, and found just the thing for Bob. Since we all know that Bob won't use a tool without a tail, here's his new hand plane:

This is essentially an aluminum bodied hand plane with a router mounted in the side. I'm not sure what cutters it uses, but yes, it's exactly what it looks like and apparently works.

I had to look that one up--no, and not by the designer of the Boulton Paul Defiant either, though it certainly shares a resemblance. This one is by Robinson's woodworking partner Stanley. There was another one in the auction, missing the router, that was made by Rockwell (Porter-Cable). So I guess they were useful enough to get copied.

I had to check that out, sadly it only puts groves in the edge of the door for a weather strip to be fitted, no use for getting rid of the rain we had today. [emoji97]
