• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I got one of these from tool station today
https://www.toolstation.com/minotaur-fr ... are/p97036

I thought that at six quid it was worth the risk.
The squareness is bang on and the blades are flat and parallel.
I am seriously considering buying a second one to cut into two rulers as the markings are super clear.
I have not actually checked the accuracy of the measurements yet.

One of the most under-rated tools in the workshop, I reckon.

If they're not bang-on square it doesn't matter much because they are easily corrected with a hammer and punch.

I've had one for at least 10 years, Screwfix or Toolstation I can't remember which but it's still used regularly and accurate despite early use when out on site.

Looks good for the money. May be a bit tough if you want to chop it in half though as it says it’s hardened steel?

I've had one for several years and have found it accurate and very useful for the occasional times I've needed it.

I had a very old one salvaged from another 'existence' which was waaaaay out of square, and I didn't realise that they could be corrected until Mike G mentioned how to do it. By that point, I was so exasperated with it, the damn thing's now residing in a landfill somewhere so I while back I bought the set of Shinwa Squares from WH which were expensive, but you do get three. The two smaller ones have been incredibly useful, especially when each can be used with a little widget - Rob

Made an add on to the framing square.
Screws into threads tapped into the ruler.
Slot cut on the table saw.
Quite pleased with the outcome of this simple modification.

Only works if each section is parallel. Else you have to decide which part you want square, the inside or the outside. And even that assumes the sides are straight ...

These seems like an appropiate thread to recall how the framing square I ordered online was delivered :)

And yes, it was bent. Got a refund and got to keep it though.

Which particular supplier should we be avoiding based on that photo

Bob

I won't name and shame as I have bought off this particular supplier many times without issue, and their customer service is excellent. Hopefully a one off.
