Perhaps it is a photographic illusion but the clock appears to be not central to the piece. Lovely piece of wood though. Is that it’s natural colour?

It's an illusion Andy; I measured it on screen with a rule and it's bang on central. Kingwood is very stuff on a par with Cocobolo (of which I have a slab or three ) - Rob

Well certainly for a nurses working watch, pre-assembly decision was taken to mount insert as-is as it's really only a decorative item. Although despite the 'handing' of its carrier for winder clearance there is actually enough clearance to allow the insert to be clipped in in any orientation.
