• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi Everyone,
On re-joining the Woodhaven 2 I went straight for the 'Hand Toolery' as I've recently been inspired to make a bigger effort to work with hand tools rather than machines. The inspiration came from watching videos of Matthew Wolfe http://www.doucetteandwolfefurniture.co ... jects.html
I love his work and the way he works. I found him when looking for some inspiration for a chest of drawers and ended up spending hours watching all his videos (I was ill at the time so it gave me the time :D ). I ended up making a poor man's version of his cherry drawers:



I have a long way to go to reach Matthews high standards, but I am trying (very trying some would say :roll: ).

Nice job. Was there a reason to include the middle leg section on the plinth? - Rob, aka 'woodbloke'
 
Hi guys, thanks for your comments. To be honest the plinth was my biggest headache in design terms (partly because it was the only thing I designed, I copied the rest :roll: - there's a moral there somewhere). Originally I planned something 'fancier' but nothing looked right so I went for simple. Should have gone for even simpler and left out the middle leg.
What do you guys think of Matthew Wolfe's work?

Personally, I think the centre leg should have been left out, as it looks a bit 'odd' to me. I follow D&W's work on FB and their stuff is universally well built, but not to my taste in terms of design - Rob, aka 'woodbloke'
 
Hi Froggy , great piece except for that third leg I'am afraid. Unique. Do you have any wip photos as I expect it would make a good read.

Thanks for your comments. Seems fairly unanimous about the '3rd leg' :( Unfortunately I only have one other photo of these drawers:

I was a bit pushed for time on this one.
