Clamps

Got quite a few quick clamps ,the ones I've bought are all in pairs
I find after a few years one of some pairs had began to slip
While I search for a remedy that actually works I want to get a new set of 24"
The issue isn't confined to just the cheapest ones but so far the Irwin ones have resisted
is there another mainstream brand that are good but affordable?

I find the wolfcraft clamps reasonably priced. Soft jaws and easy single handed use. Work well as a pen press too.
Easy to reverse the head for spreading too.

I have many different brands of quick clamps, my go to is always the Irwin’s.
I love my Wolfcraft clamps, especially the big ones,really nice to use but occasionally they refuse to work, they just refuse to clamp up until you pull and let go of the handle a few times

I've had a couple of Bessey and Ax single handers for years and both have been excellent but St.David of Charlesworth made the comment somewhere that they don't offer enough pressure for a really satisfactory glue up; for that you ideally need clamps with a screw thread - Rob

Another thing I found with Bessey is there are different levels of them. The really nice ones are made in Germany and everything about them is quality. The less expensive models are made in china and everything about them is cheap and rinky-dink.

That said, my go to 9 times out of 10 are the Irwin quick ones. However I also have a couple of these that I modified per this Paul Sellers video that I use for panel glue-ups and for the "clamp in a vise" etc.

I like traditional cam clamps, very useful for all kinds of things, there is nothing faster so they're good when speed matters, I use them for hot hide glue on instruments but have ended up using them for other things as well also they weigh almost nothing so that's good.

I have nothing good at all to say about those one handed bar clamps. I loathe them with a passion. If you want a decent one handed clamp, these things are superb (and they can be had for £5 or £6 if you keep your eyes open):

I don't loathe them per se, but I think you have to know their limitations in that they may slip and that they don't offer much in the way of a cramping force, but they're ideal for a way to apply some pressure when you can only use one hand. In my view, they're a useful part of the cramping arsenal but should never be relied on on as the main tools to apply some welly where needed 'cos they simply won't - Rob

I have some 36" F-clamps but the distortion makes them pretty much unusable if you need glue squeezed out.
A solution to slippage would be a preferable route for my wallet.
