• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Home office renewal

Thanks for all the replies gents, turns out my current desktop is over 10 years old, monitor is even older, printer must be similar, so had my moneys worth really. I’m not tech oriented , nor have any real interest in learning enough to be so, ( too many other things i’d rather do), making...

    Home office renewal

Good day all I’m not a tech savvy chap, relying on an ipad and an old hp desktop running windows 7 to do all i need. However it rather seems that HP has decided my desktops printer no longer needs to carry on its duties as it’s too old. That my HP wireless printer has to have its every action...

It’s bite the bullet time on a replacement cordless drill.

I was a long time user of Panasonic battery tools, took endless use and abuse, were’nt cheap when new but worth the money. BUT when they eventually started to play up getting them repaired was a long expensive tedious process. So moved over to dewalt ( i have a dewalt tool centre a couple of...

    Hosepipe ban

When UK signed up to the eu water directive , it was soon realised the costs were going to be significant and water was privatised. Up until the 80’s on south coast most sewage was dumped via effectively victorian outfalls that were barely beyond the low water mark. With little or no control of...

Affinity Water - meter now activated conundrum

As a landlord i spent countless hours dealing with utility companies in respect of utility bills ( worse these days than it used to be with seemingly never ending number of gas and electric suppliers ). I’d suggest you wait until there is some form of contact since the meter was sorted out...

Affinity Water - meter now activated conundrum

So does that mean when the water meters were fitted two were fitted to your neighbours feed, where as one should have been in your chamber? They’ve removed what they said was your meter and now fitted a meter to your actual chamber. I’d guess they’ll want to monitor your useage over the next...

    Small hole saws

Evening All The order turned up today ( i ended up buying from a seller that had 2 of each size for under £12) , the 6mm one cut out the 4 screws in a trice. ( ended up with a 8mm ish hole). They look reasonably well made for the price and expect they’ll probably see me out for the number of...

    new houses

Come east kent, pretty much endless new estates being built last couple of miles of m2 right down to margate. Aylesham an old pit village ( old as in no more coal) is going nearly qradruple in size. Not the only one. Never gets officially confirmed , but a good portion of the building is for...

    Small hole saws

Thanks for that Sam. The picture is of the offending screws, the cabinet has been in a damp loft ( and under a leak at some point) Initially i’ll just cut deep enough to release the “cover” it’s only about 4mm thick, then i’ll see if a decent pair of grips will ease the screws out, they won’t be...

    Small hole saws

Cheers gents, that was the thread, subsequently found some small hole saws on amazon, cheap so probably won’t last long , but it’s only 4 screws to remove.

    Small hole saws

Good day all I seem to recall a thread a while back, where a solution for removing damaged screws was discussed. A solution offered was to use a small hole saw / core drill, to remove the screw, then plug hole etc. Can’t for the life of me find the thread, does anyone else remember it or the...

    Double glazing again...

90% of time upvc windows can be put right easily enough, hinges are the usual failure point, they wear ( too many linkages and often plastic corner wedges) the. A bit of attention to the gearbox loxpcking mechanisms and “mushroom”. A bit of elbow grease with a cream upvc cleaner , and they’ll...

Where/How best to sell HiFi separates?

Unless there’s something of particular interest to the audiophile’s , older hifi doesn’t have much of a market. No boxes makes sending time consuming and risky, then there’s the chancers who’ll buy stuff then claim it doesn’t work when received. The Thorens deck may be more desirable depending...

    central heating install

If you’ve no intention of going to a heat pump in forseeable future consider a plastic piped microbore system. 10mm runs to each rad, no joints in the runs a doodle to run, manifolds close to the boiler. If not then a more traditional set up but again in a plastic pipe. Only real benefit of...

Affinity Water - meter now activated conundrum

600L a day is a huge consumption for a relatively small property/ household and in itself should have triggered some sort of action from the water Co. ( even if just a letter saying that your consumption is above average). As above, just contact the waterboard and keep it to the bare minimum...
