• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Well that’s another f&£king awful day!

After burying our 12 year old pooch, Biscuit, in November her 13 year old big sister has passed away in her sleep over night, of a broken heart! Just 48 hours after Biscuit went Molly started becoming lethargic and panting a lot. Vet’s diagnosed a heart condition and she’s been on medication...

    Ian Huntley

Someone’s finally managed to bump him off I see. Not that I have an ounce of sympathy for him, but people have been trying for years so I imagine his prison life was a daily battle to keep away from people and stay alive. I wonder if the parents of those poor girls get any solace now he’s...

The inevitable is sadly upon us…

As all pet owners know, and fear, that sad day is upon us. Our beloved Biscuit, our 12 year old, one eyed (and blind in that remaining eye), Cavachon will heartbreakingly be taking her final long walk tomorrow. 😢 She’s been a wonderfully stoic little lady since losing her eye in a play fight...

    More cruciverbalism

Just saw this on FB and it made me smile. I'm sure some on here will enjoy it too, very clever.

    First time ever!

The head sheared off a bolt on my robot mower (must have worked its way loose, must tighten up on my maintenance…!) and jammed against the underside of the blade disc causing the motor to detect resistance and stop, but not before chewing the disc up! I’ve never had any success with screw/bolt...

    New hobby

As many of you know I'm quite an active person and play a lot of football, golf, cricket (badly) and cycling as well as having just signed back up to a local 'proper' gym to work on my strength. A few weeks ago I was working in the garden and came to the sudden realisation that I was as weak as...

    The big 4-0

After the roaring success of the ‘50’ marquee lights I made for TrimTheQueen’s birthday party last year, a good friend of ours asked if I would consider doing a ‘4’ to go with the ‘0’ for her 40th in May. I had some annual leave to us up before the end of the FY so got into the workshop over...

3D printer to the rescue again

I thought I'd share a little project I've been working on, in idle minutes, for the past couple of months. We have a ridiculously complex Lutron lighting system in our house (put in by the previous owner) which is fine but all Lutron proprietary kit and as such expensive and complex. We've been...

    Axminster Warrington store closing

per title, belts being tightened all over the place, they’re closing the store with immediate effect. 😞 Real shame as it gave me a local place to check out new purchases before buying, and I was always prepared to pay a small premium for that privilege. I imagine not everyone was of the same...

    Slow progress...

Life just seems sooooooo busy, all the time, I just had to make a little time in the workshop to progress with getting it in a working state so I can actually get to the machines and surfaces without having to manhandle a ton of stuff out of the way. This is VERY small progress and can barely...

    Aurora Borealis

I went out with work colleagues into Manchester last night and when I arrived home at 23:30 I was greeted by this as I got out of the taxi… I went to Lapland and didn’t see them as well that this!

Don't know if you chaps have seen this or if it's been posted on here already, but here you go just in case. Have your name under XH558's wing...

    My new toy

A bit of an extravagance (I’m selling unused clutter to finance it) but I’m buying back time which is my most valuable asset. GPS control around the pond, nervy moments following it… I’ve only had it for a day so only mapped one of the three areas of grass we have, so I’ll be doing the...

    New Forum bugs/feature requests/dislikes etc

Hi All Thanks for bearing with us while the migration to the new forum hosting and software took place. Again we thank Alasdair for doing all the heavy lifting to get us to here, he's been at it since 8am this morning and it really is much appreciated. For obvious reasons of Administration etc...

    Hinging help

Hi all I need the help of the hive mind please. In my ongoing bid to organise the workshop so i can be more productive when I get time in there, I have decided to make a few storage boxes that will live in the rafters of the mezzanine floor. Basically I'm thinking some drawer boxes made of...

    SPAM accounts

Morning all I thought I'd share this with you because it amused me a little this morning. We get anywhere from low 10's to over 250 SPAM accounts created per week, I guess depending on how busy the spammers are that week. Most are very easy to identify due to the format they use for usernames...

    The 50th

As mentioned a while back and in another post, it’s my good lady wife’s 50th birthday next month. Having booked out a very nice local bar for an evening to host her party she turned to decoration and asked me to make some marquee numbers for her. Research had shown these to be ridiculously...
