• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

When i changed doctors , i had the new patient / over 55 checks, standard questions and the answer was i had the risk of a cardiac event of 12.5% and the advice was to take statins as my cholesterol was high, when i pointed out that it was no different to my previous results at last gp and they...

    Plug taps

Cheers Gents, the vendor says the point is because the tap is too small to “dimple” the end for the grinding process, and it’s down to me to regrind to a plug tap proper, though the listing shows a picture of a generic plug tap that i’d expect, also why would they not have them ground accurately...

    Plug taps

Good day all I recently ordered some 7/32 whitworth taps which was meant to include a plug tap, when it arrived it’s for all intents and purposes a 2nd. Supplier tells me that they are supplied like this as an industry standard for taps of this size and that i need to grind it down if i want a...

    Fork andles American style

Used to be a place in Ramsgate, started in around 1900 as an iron and brass founder, ( the name will live for many years on the drain and stopcock covers around the town) which at some point came a very odd hardware emporium run by the sons of the chap who started it all. Proper Brown coats and...

    FFX no longer trading

ITS were my go to for many years, they just got on with things quietly and efficiently, but they started to fall behind when it came to the advertising and promotion and for me were no longer front of my mind when looking for stuff, screwfix, toolstation, ebay, ffx became places i looked first...

    Axminster Warrington store closing

Likewise i never negotiate regarding price, i’ve said what i’d like and expect that when job is done. My view is that if you knock 10% off a price you get a 90% job and deserve it. If i can’t afford what i’d like then i either have to downgrade or leave it until i’ve saved a bit more. A friend...

    Axminster Warrington store closing

During Covid the gov, chucked momey about with no checks whatsoever, the trades took what they could. Lots of eastern europeans couldn’t believe their luck and went home to build the house of their dreams with what was effectively a lottery win. UK trades spent like drunk sailors on saturday...

Don’t forget your covid jabs folks.

But that’s not email and it doesn’t allow the your records to be shared electronically across the nhs , may be efficient for keeping patients informed as to whats happening but certainly doesn’t speed up the process within the nhs which is where the inefficiencies really matter. There was no nhs...

Don’t forget your covid jabs folks.

AJB , i’ve been told that the nhs’s aversion to email is a result of fears of being sued in the event of a data breach. My sister has a well controlled auto immune problem, for which she needs regular tests, but for some reason the hospital best placed to do the tests is in a different nhs trust...

    Rant

AJB, i’ve a person in my circle who was involved in buying properties under the CPO’s for HS2, the gov paid generously for the properties, then said the owners could stay there as tenants until such time as the property was needed, at which point all the requirements for rented property kicked...

    Rant

I was’nt referring to individual wealth, rather our standing as a nation, a government has the ability to tax and spend appropriately, but faced with too many in a population that have little regard for their health it faces a steep uphill struggle. The nations rather lax attitude to...

    Rant

The whole issue of care homes should be a wake up call in respect of “money men “ entering a sector. 20 years ago care homes were largely individual family small homes, standards in some were undeniably poor, so goverment steps in and slowy legislates these small homes out of existence, we the...

My worst experience was a flight Port Sudan to Riyadh, despite being between different countries was classed as an internal flight ( afterwards we were told this was to avoid international safety standards). Black Stain for exterior sapele

Pretty sure there’s one i can borrow, had a look online and from what i’ve read the choice of oil seems to be pure tung oil or teak oil ( tung oil gets mentioned most), huge variances in price online. Would tung oil be the better option if so anyone have any favoured suppliers?
