• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Mmm some treats for today.

Easier to cut the size of the product so able to make more of than to get the packaging manufacturer to resize the machines/cardboard and printing changed. And as far as shrinkage I'd reckon more like 33.3% than 25%...

    Football

Never been enthusiastic about sport - probably because of the sports master we had while at boarding school in Germany as an 11 yr old (father in the British Army and stationed there)... cross country runs in winter... bloody freezing and getting back to the changing room blue 🥶. However, I did...

    CCTV?

I've a Ring camera, battery operated, (Spotlight Cam Plus) for the back garden after being burgled in 2025, costing £49.99 annually. I'd be tempted otherwise Roger - still may be! I'm thinking I would need a front door camera as well as for the bac garden to replace the Ring one... 🤔. From what...

    CCTV?

Unable to offer help with your problems Adrian but, re the drop outs of the NEW router from Vodafone possibly...? Possibly this hot weather we've been getting is having an affect on the signal? You may have considered it and it may not be part of the issue! Only offering as a possible additional...

    Record temps

Possibly so Roger... but: "During the siege of Leningrad (as St. Petersburg was known then), citizens suffered from severe hunger. They ate all the cats in the city, which resulted in an infestation of rats. Hordes of rodents broke into houses and storages, devouring the last scarce food...

The Bas…..s got me 11 times

That's interesting Martin... I'm aware of having to report any sightings of the Yellow-legged Asian Hornet, have the app on my phone but, thankfully, haven't had to use it. I'd not seen any mention of the "harp" device until your mention now... very interesting indeed.

Great opportunity missed there Bob... should have got the video camcorder or camera out 😎😂

Make a workshop knife from a reciprocating saw blade.

Camera focused on your finger nearest to the bench top... I get the same thing happen. Just needs a slight movement when taking the shot for the focus point to change and not be noticed until later...

The Bas…..s got me 11 times

Sorry to hear about the affect they've had on you Ian 😞. Sincere best wishes for you recovering soon. This hot weather here at the moment is having an effect on me and my charitable abilities... 36°C here yesterday 😟... supposedly getting cooler from today... bit of rain forecast for Tuesday...

    WIP: Another door replacement...

I know what you mean Ian... a thin strip down the edge... job done 👍 Thing with the 6 panel is the gaps and angles at the top and the bottom - around ¾"~1" at the bottom with the 6 panel. Why I didn't realise it all those years ago I don't know? Probably just the rush of replacing 7 doors...

    WIP: Another door replacement...

Part 2. Having trimmed for a rough shortening for height, just to give LOML an idea of how it may possibly look, the angles for the door frame opening needed doing. This morning was the 1st opportunity to do so as previous days had been washing/drying on the line days! Again, no plunge saw...

    WIP: Another door replacement...

Some may remember my posting of replacing the 15 pane porch door for a half glazed wood panelled door I'd got many years ago... Well, the door from the front room to the kitchen, 6 panelled door, splintered at the catch sight on the face, piece lost over time so didn't get get glued back. It...

Glut of soft fruit.....tip for keeping fresh

Sorry you don't have access to any of the 'cheaper' brands Steve but, hopefully, your go at cherry brandy will be excellent. It's the fun of trying I used to find - we had the 'odd' competition for whose sloe gin was the top for that year. I was treated to a bottle of Blackberry Whiskey about 4...

Glut of soft fruit.....tip for keeping fresh

I used to make Sloe gin when I did the Falconry... something to warm you up on a cold morning - or offer a toast at the end of the day. Couple of times I also made Elderberry gin - sometimes mixed the two 🥃😋. I'd offer... as another "possible use"... Plumb gin... or vodka... or other spirits of...

Glut of soft fruit.....tip for keeping fresh

Excellent Andy 😊. I did try growing some fruit trees but in containers... plum, pear, bramley apple... they didn't do well at all. Pear tree became infected, plum and apple trees didn't give much fruit - I think the squirrels and wood pigeons didn't help... Seems there's other things to...

Upgrading my wearing out shed - in stages on a budget

"Levelling concrete"... I learned many many years ago how to do it @shafiq so would tentatively (😉) offer if you have to do more at some point in the future. However, I'm sure these days you'll be able to find it on YouTube but YouTube wasn't around 50 years ago... Came in handy when I had to...

Glut of soft fruit.....tip for keeping fresh

Which named variety of apple Wallace? Google would give you some guidance either as a 'general' guide for various names or more detailed for a definite named variety. Example: "To store apples long-term in the UK - 4 to 6 months, select only unblemished, late-season varieties (e.g., Bramley...

    What I have fixed today

Differing 'heads' (?) Andy... some curved, some pointed, some flat... if I did spread them around in different places I'd most likely not have the one needed and be searching all over the place. Putting the case in a drawer/storage suitably marked on the drawer front - safest 😉
