• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

Looking very smart Mike! The ratan - as a kid we had dining room chairs where the back was ratan. Not great as it tends to get damaged pulling and pushing the chairs.

    Trees

This is the last tree for 2025 (yes I know we are in 2026, but I am a bit behind with my work) When cutting the tree below, there are 2 side offcuts which can be used again to create a new tree. Here are the 2 sides joined and getting a star...

Healthy eating Gill. I used to make sauerkraut and kimchi, also very healthy. But had to stop, too much salt for kidneys.

    Falls (not water)

More falls over the years ........... Retired 3 weeks. Fell outside, missed the paving block, twisted ankle, tore ligament. Drove to local day hospital, X-ray, plaster cast for couple of weeks. Wife had to fetch me as well as bring someone to drive my bus home. October, summer heat, cast and...

Thanks, not thought of it like that. I will repair the flip-flop and then test the adapter supplying 6V. Certainly do not want to fry the LED's.

My el-cheepo is a UNI-T UT10A. Cost less than ZAR150 in those days. Bought when I built the first alarm system at old house, about 2008. Yesterday afternoon decided to check out the 2 power adapter units to be used in the LED circuits. #1 - DC 6V, 7.5V and 9V On the 6V the meter registered 8.5V...

    Bread Baking

The good wife has recently started making a sourdough culture. (flour & water) Went slow at first, then the stuff just grew and blossomed. :) Baked a couple of loaves in pans, looks good and holey, nice taste. Then a big treat - made up sourdough pizzas! Baked in the oven on the pizza stone. A...

    Axminster update

Bought from them once. Order from RSA, pay from UK, deliver to friend UK address, friend posts to RSA. I was impressed by their online ordering/processing and delivery. Royal Mail impressive, tracks all the way to Jhb Int airport. Then gets lost in fifth world postal system, took 3 months to...

I saw at the Indian shop the other day, those small little pyramid things that you burn, like incense. You can buy the small ceramic house that fits over it with a chimney for the smoke. (wood will also work) The one that caught my eye was "Cannabis"! :ROFLMAO: "For that relaxed feeling." I was...

Back to school - 5 Point star

Ok, star cut. Small one looked 'too small' - 60mm diameter. Enlarged the circle for larger star to 80mm diameter, looks much better, one broken blade. The larger one will be attached with a 6mm dowel and a small gap between tree and star. I had to resort to other scraps of thinner Pine. The...
