• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Looking for these mouldings

Made a modification to the drawing but using a radius of 2.5mm for the two top curves makes the mould project to 55.5mm. I'm guessing the two top radius are not half round as your drawing shows 58mm to be the width of the mould.

    Workshop roof design

Dom, take a look at: https://www.cladco.co.uk/media/pdf/Installation_Guide_Insulated_Panel_Roof_1.pdf I put the link above after I edited my reply. The recomondation is usually to use steel purling because the fixings then have the ability to lock into the steel purlin and resist wind uplift...

    Workshop roof design

My experience of working on insulated roofing sheets is that they normally interlock at the edges and have steel U shaped purlings to fix to and are supported by steel framework. Rafters are not the norm as the sheets are normally self supporting between U shaped steel purlings but thats not to...

    What are these spindle cutters?

I would think the left is part of a stack system of cutters that interlink but as the left cutter only has the spurs it does not look like much use on it's own. I also think the gap in the left cutter would have fit through it part of the stack system such as a rebate block or other. The gap...

Mike G's How to Build a Shed

That is quite true the sea air can help but can also make things rather cold at times depending upon the direction. I did work inland in Germany for six months a few years ago and the temprrature was about -6 degrees but feelt a lot warmer than here on the East coast of England, the North sea...

Mike G's How to Build a Shed

It sounds like you are also living in North America either in the border area between the USA and Canada or Canada itself. We don't get the temperature difference here in the UK so it's hard to appreciate what you have to put up with.

Cam Locks for 18mm sheet material?

Took a look on the Hafele sit but could not find any cam lock fittings but managed to locate some for 18mm board on ebay. £27 for 100 which seems a bit pricy to me.

Cam Locks for 18mm sheet material?

I have a Jig already which is very accurate but it works on positioning the dowel on the centre of the board. If I use Cam nuts intended for 15mm boards they are too shallow and the cam nut ends up well below the surface of the board. If I had deeper cam nuts everthing would be fine. I...

Cam Locks for 18mm sheet material?

Hi just asking if anyone knows where I can buy cam lock nuts for 18mm board. I could use standard sizes but they are mainly made for 15mm board and sink in to the surface of 18mm board too much. Thank you.

    I think I have enough clamps ...

I think the amount and size of clamps you need will always depend on your intended project. If you have enough you are a lucky man.

Last weeks work during a heat wave. Closing in the underside of a cottage.

Yes I have heard extreme cold can freeze the ground causing it to expand but I have not heard of that occurring here in the UK. Are you in Canada?

    Sheet material optimiser

I have learnt from experience that if you are going to do repeat work then buy extra to save the cost of jumping in a van to get more materials should you run out.

Last weeks work during a heat wave. Closing in the underside of a cottage.

Sand is not normally a problem to build on it's clay that can be one of the big problems. Nice bit of carpentry work there, look's like it could be interesting.
