• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

What are these spindle cutters?

Offered free on the mig forum.

The right-hand one is fairly straightforward - no writing, but 120x6x30 groover with HSS knives.

Left hand one - not so sure. There are no features on the back, and just those two carbide nickers.

Also, 1.25” bore and too thin for my top hats. I’m inclined to bore the centre out a bit bigger so I can loctite in a more substantial bush to bring it down to 30mm. That’s assuming I can either find the right inserts for it, or adapt it into some sort of custom cutter. Thoughts?

As Trev says the rh one looks like a Kity though they usually were stamped and I think some of the tooling they supplied was outsourced, I had one I sold with my machine. No idea about the other one though.

It's the old style German cutters, my spindle moulder blocks are have similar knives albeit larger.

I would think the left is part of a stack system of cutters that interlink but as the left cutter only has the spurs it does not look like much use on it's own.

I also think the gap in the left cutter would have fit through it part of the stack system such as a rebate block or other.

The gap between the spur and the bottom of the cutter disc would just rub against a part if no other cutting tool was used to fill the gap so I'm guessing it's not much use without the other components it's supposed to be used with.
