• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Following some info, kindly passed on by Bugbear into my inherited Mansell saw, I came across this information in the way of photos, which shows a part of the sad decline of Sheffields steel industry.

The saw was produced in the Wallace Steel Works, Furnival Street, Sheffield which I'm sure was home to other products over the years?
The works in its heyday:

EDIT: I have edited it so your photo's show in the post Rod, sorry if that wasn't your intention, just thought it made it easier to see them (and it annoyed me opening a new tab  ) - TrimTheKing

Very nice images. Got me thinking though, with nostalgia to one side, was this a nice place to work back in the day? I would of love to have a time machine and spend a day but I bet working conditions had the potential to be rather brutal.

Thanks Mark, I did try to do that - you will have to tell me how?

The old pictures I got from this web which shows lots of famous factories:

Must have been pretty awful living in those conditions but people had to because they needed the work.

I cannot imagine what Mecca were going to do with the old works? Didn't seem to last long according to the last photo where it's being demolished and replaced by flats? Must have a look on G Earth?
