You may well have heard about this. If not, this is the gist: at the Oscars ceremony the compere/comedian made a joke at the expense of the wife of the actor Will Smith. His wife has bad alopecia and the joke turned on that. Mr Smith was understandably annoyed. FWIW I think you can have a go at anybody for what they say or do of their own free will but you can't have a go at somebody for something over which they have no influence.
Mr Smith took umbrage, went up to the comedian and slapped him. Some commentators are describing this as unforgiveable and shameful. I happen to think it was OK. No physical harm was done and the result was much more effective i.e. humiliation. There are lines and a gentleman would not cross them.
BTW I'm not a great one for the current woke climate of people taking offence at the least little thing but I think in this case there was no doubt that the remark was genuinely offensive. The slap was administered (probably technically illegal) and that was the end of the matter. It is also much preferable IMO to a long winded Twitter war, which would probably be the default reaction for the average Hollywood luvvy.
