• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Sorry Vicky, couldn't resist it.

Anyway, I sometimes drop into "t'other place" to remind myself what unleashed sophistry, lunar-cycle fomenting and general frothing at the keyboard looks like - and count myself lucky for the sanctuary that has been consolidated over here.
I tried a quick skelly there early this morning, no go. Site down. Digesting lunch, thought I'd put the digital waders on, virtual clothes peg me digital nose, and have anudder butcher's....no joy; still "out".

Long time for an outage....Have the mighty Keef and his henchwoman ("Dovetail"?) finally fallen foul of the Chinese/Myanmarese hacking clubs? Whassat Vicky Dear? Oh.. no, I ain't "bovvered"...just faintly humming the theme from the opera "Schadenfreude"...by Vandal...as opposed to Handel...

I wouldn't be surprised if the conglomerate decided to do the same as what they've done to
the other forums, i.e lumberjocks, my tractor forum, and some German Shepherd forums,
i.e blank the screen off completely, (text and pictures, that is).. until presumably singed in?
Doesn't to me, seem like a wise decision if so.
I've not posted there of recent for the other reasons said before,
though barely even logging in since I realised this was going on.

The 'ol saying holds true... don't put all yer eggs in one basket!

I've got to admit that I can't fathom what problems people perceive there to be with UK Workshop. I've been knocking about the place since 2004, I think, post sparingly and only when I feel like it, ignore or laugh off any barbs thrown my way (very few), only once had my wrist gently tapped by a moderator for something I said, and seem to somehow pretty much avoid any and all those controversies and bitter disputes that pop up between contributors leading to moderator slap downs.

During the time I've been there I've spotted many a user appear, post furiously (sometimes hundreds of posts in a few weeks), usually for a limited period, occasionally about woodworking topics, and at other times not, fall out with other users in short order, then get all pissy and windy and flounce off never to be seen again.

To me that's all background noise, easily ignored, and maybe I'm just weirdly easy going, hard to offend, and find all those disputes just mildly amusing, or something. Slainte.

No explanation or apology for down time. Why am I unsurprised?
A couple of years ago, I watched my niece reply to her dad when he was having a go at her over some trifling matter. She peered at him over the top of her thick, black framed specs, then slowly pointed to her nose with her index finger and quietly said...."DTFLB" which translates as "does this face look bovvered?" The same applies in this instance Sam 😂 - Rob

I take your points Richard; perspective and context are wonderful ways of defusing things too. I was significantly censured by K.U. and Angie in the first few days after the sale and p'raps that colours my thinking a bit too. Mehh, grow a set, Sam.

Ah, yes, the boys coming into B3 were equally good at contemporary witicisms Bob. My favourite comes from within my own family! I remonstrated with them collectively for some infringement or other and Ness calmly said: "Dad? Chill. Remember, we choose your nursing home."😲

You lot are lucky, my daughter once told me to F*** O** before storming off herself 🫨 It was a long time ago and I had been rather unreasonable, she did apologise profusely once things had cooled down

In truth I haven't got a clue what you're talking about regarding K.U., Angie, a sale, and how that relates in some way to your apparent antipathy to UK Workshop. I don't need an explanation, ha, ha. Slainte.
