• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

As I'm new to here I'm sure where to post this so I'll try here, if it's in the wrong place I'm sure someone will say.

I bought and collected a large hedgerow Ash last week, at 1.3m at it's widest it was to big for the bandsaw mill which meant I had to dust off the chainsaw mill with 1.6m guidebar.
Some helpful soul between me agreeing to buy it and actually collecting it had tried to cut it in half, as it happened it wasn't a bad idea because some of you will have noticed the scaffolding bar sticking out of the side (that in itself is another tale).
I managed to mill some stunning boards mostly 60-75mm thick and 1.2m at their widest.
One lump milled at 125mm thick has already been sold to a woodturner but will remain on site with the rest of the boards until dry/sold/collected.

Lovely boards, I wouldn't want to machine it though with all that rippling, like trying to plane iron!

That's why I milled the boards at 2.5" and 3" for those who use a router sled or the really adventurous and want to hand plane!
