Bog oak and maple golfing pencil

Thanks to MikeG for the bog oak pen blanks and to Malc for letting me pinch some maple for the celtic knot. It is shame the bog oak has discoloured the maple during sanding. Looks worse in the image. There is a 2mm click pencil in there with a sharpener inside the tee.

Virtually impossible to stop the black Bog Oak from contaminating a lighter coloured timber unless a super duper vac system is used at the the same time, directly over the area being sanded - Rob

All my previous Celtic knot pens have been with a lighter pen barrel and dark knot eg oak and walnut, apple and mahogany. I wonder if I could use a grain or pore filler before the final sanding?

Not sure, but I think I've seen somewhere CA glue used as a pore filler on turned items before finishing.
