Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

This apparently is a true tale and was regaled first hand to me by someone who actually saw it. In the 70's I had a job prior to going to uni and I spent all my time in the operating theatres at Frimley Park Hospital as a porter.
It appears that on one occasion a chap came into theatre with an enormous flag pole of an erection under his hospital gown; he had a blood clot at the base which prevented it from 'subsiding' :eusa-whistle: and required general surgery to remove said clot.
It seems that a student nurse tried repeatedly with her hand, to no avail, to force his erection to lie flat. Every time she tried, it sprang up like a tent pole under his gown! :lol: :lol:
True story and one of the funniest things I heard during my time in theatre: there was lots of blood and gore and other very memorable occasions, but none quite as hilarious as this episode - Rob

I find them very nice to use one handed for fine trimming or cutting thin sections like banding and veneer.

Quite a fan of Crown tools, when I needed to set up a new basic set of hand tools which I had sent over from the UK to here in the states, I got a marking knife and a couple of really nice cabinetmakers screwdrivers and a pair of skew chisels from Axminster. All good quality and very reasonably priced. Ian

I meant to post my poor mans set but forgot, I did this about a year ago and at the time the photos were taken the blades had been cleaned had the primary bevels ground but hadn't been polished or sharpened.
Not a proper matched set as they are rescued from my redundant tools box but are old Marples and half decent steel so whilst I couldn't justify paying for a new set they were worth a couple of hours work.
Just chopped the blades (sacrilege I know
), knocked off the horrible plastic handles and quickly turned up some from scrap mahogany without bothering too much about perfection or making them identical, a few coats or BLO and they work very well for me. Overall length is around 180mm.

Nice job on those, but for my particular application, I needed something shorter, which is why I turned the elm 'mushroom' handles on my new Narex set, which brought the overall length down to 160mm - RobLons":2ih2fdz8 said:

I didn't think it through tbh Rob or I might have made slightly shorter handles, easy enough to change if I felt the need of course. I have a set of 12 Pfeil micro carving chisels with small mushroom handles and whilst I love the chisels I find the handles a little uncomfortable, they have a flat on one side which might be a factor but otherwise personal taste.
