• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi just asking if anyone knows where I can buy cam lock nuts for 18mm board.

I could use standard sizes but they are mainly made for 15mm board and sink in to the surface of 18mm board too much.

Thank you.

The cam locks I have are branded Titus and almost certainly from Screwfix. They work fine for me in 18mm board. I agree they need the dowel fitting 7.5 mm from one face which makes them central in 15mm board but a drilling jig is easily made to locate the dowel correctly offset in thicker boards.
The cam itself just needs a 12mm deep hole which is better suited to drilling with lip and spur bit in 18 mm as 15mm leaves a danger of the tip breaking through.

Hafele certainly used to make them for 18mm among other sizes. Not sure if they still do as the ones I have left over are pre covid. Worth checking the wholesale site.

I have a Jig already which is very accurate but it works on positioning the dowel on the centre of the board.

If I use Cam nuts intended for 15mm boards they are too shallow and the cam nut ends up well below the surface of the board.

If I had deeper cam nuts everthing would be fine.

I know you can obtain cam nuts that are specific to 18mm boards I just don't know where to obtain them at present.

Thank you for your reply Bob.

Superb I will check, many thanks for the information.

Took a look on the Hafele sit but could not find any cam lock fittings but managed to locate some for 18mm board on ebay. £27 for 100 which seems a bit pricy to me.
