CamVac capacitor

So I was prepping a few oak boards on the planer thicknesser and I got a bit carried away with myself and may have forgotten to check how full the bin on the CamVac was . I heard a little "pop" and noticed that shavings were building up in the extraction hose. Realising what I had done, switched everything off and checked the bin which which a little over-full.... Luckily I only toasted one of the motors

I have ordered a new numatic motor which I know will fit fine but I also melted the capacitor. It is a type I have never seen before. Can anyone help me source this as I am sure Record Power will add a healthy mark up!

It looks like a delta suppression capacitor. Does it have a lead to each supply line and a third connection to ground?

If so, then it is not critical and need not be replaced as it will not affect the running of the machine.

If you really want one then you are quite correct not to go for a manufacturers spare part on grounds of cost. About the cheapest I found on a quick looksee was

Looking again:



The two black wires at the top of the picture were connected to the motor at one end of the capacitor. The wires at the other end of the capacitor go through to the switch.

I think this is more like the thing I would need if I replaced it?

It helps suppress the radio frequency interference that would be experienced by someone using a medium/long wave radio nearby.
1. who uses medium/long wave these days
2. how can they hear a radio over the racket that a brush motor makes anyway
3. Not sure about this one, but the suppression of RFI could well be the subject of a EU directive and prior to that it was just good practice.

Yes, I did not realise it was a double ender from your first photos.

Manufacturers like then as the wires come included and it cheapens their assembly costs. Electrically the same animal - see the diagram on the side and up to you if you replace it.
