• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Has anyone had custom static cling window film printed? Any tips, recommended providers? I want to create some for windows in our shower room where the top half is mostly clear than transitions to a design in the lower half to obscure the view. We’re currently using purchased film with a stained glass kind of design which is really good, but the design doesn’t actually match the proportions of the window and there’s a hard line between lower part with film and upper part without.

Can't help with a supplier but a bit more detail on what you need. The way to achieve this is to print onto clear vinyl, with a gradient of a dark colour, say grey. The gradient is between two colours, the top section has the dark grey colour with 0% opacity, but even the bottom section the colour needs a reduced opacity, say 50-60%, but play around to get the privacy you want. You can also adjust the transition of the gradient to decide where it changes to clear. If it was 100% it wouldn't give the translucent obscrued affect you're after. Then you can layer your design on top of this which, depending on what the design is may or may not also want to be translucent.

No idea if there are companies that offer bespoke window film as retail, if you struggle, suggest you find your local small sign company who deal with printed vinyl, who will definitely be able to help as this technique is used quite a bit commercially.
