• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Daughters flat

Thanks I dont think i have the skills to put a roof on it. I still need to sort out the awning with the missing lintel, although I dont know if it needs a lintel. The walls are all pebble dashed and painted so there is no way to know. The UPVC door has been there for many years so I may patch things up and repair the awning.

The local builder came around this afternoon and found the lintel just above the replacement door frame both inner and outer wooden lintels are present and sound. They can be seen in this picture. If you know what you are looking for which I dont :D

Sigh of relief. I can fill this in now and make good the outer wooden cover and fit the lights.

The final floor boards have been returned to their places, Laminate has be refitted in all rooms with edging in two of them, One bedroom and kitchen are next. I have also refitted all of the kitchen units, with the exception of the sink unit which is 23mm from vertical. I am not touching it until the plumber comes back from holiday.

It is almost time to start making the bed I originally agreed to make  Final electrical inspection next week.

My experience, from a large variety of hotel rooms, holiday cottages, etc, etc, is that any sink plug more complicated than a plastic bung on a chain will always be broken.

Ha ha Tony not a single sink plug in this place either fits or works.
With regard to the gap in the front of the building behind the awning. The builder said it would be very difficult to get any mortar in there as the gap is quite small. He suggested expanding foam.
I know this stuff has its uses and I thought rather than just squirting it in there, I might get a refuse sack put it in the hole then fill that with the foam. Or should I just fill the hole.

End of another week. Time for an update.
The rewire is now complete and has been tested paperwork is being completed I am still filling holes which were made during the rewire. Although we did try to fill most of the holes with sockets. The wired network
is finished and the internet works.
Flooring has been refitted and the 1/4 round beading has been fitted, even the carpets are refitted.
I had a bit of an accident with one of the kitchen doors which was not fitted properly and struck me on the head when it came off.
I have stripped the awning at the front to fill the gap above the door, renewed the wood to allow the light to be fitted it has a seperate sensor.
Our local builder is going to refelt the roof of the awning once I have replaced the wood.
