• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

My 625e is over twenty years old but has been lightly used. Yesterday while running it made a little chuff of smoke and stopped.
With the fuse replaced it will now run for a few seconds and then stop. Any ideas or suggestions welcome!

If the magnet has come off the router runs at full speed irrespective of setting
Check brushes then
I would go with dead armature or dead speed controller. If it has been worked hard recently id favour the former otherwise the speed controller.

This is assuming the router is free to turn. If it is at all stiff take off the front labyrinth seal and clean it.

Sounds like the speed controller to me, available from lots of places, you might as well chuck in a couple of bearings while you are at it.

I have had a Hiachi 1/2" router fail on the speed control (I have four collected over time). I only found out the speed control was the problem when I went to swap parts around from another Hitachi router and noticed the speed control on that router had been bypassed. I changed around the wiring and off it went but with no speed control.

There was no smoke upon it originally failing but it would run until put under pressure then it stopped. It's all fine now though with the speed control being bypassed.
