• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Do I Have Enough

But how often do you spend time looking for one ?
With that number in the workshop, the chances of finding one quickly must be quite high. 👌

I bet you’ve got one or two tape measures too.
Problem I have, although not to that scale, is I have a small amount of tools in the house, a few in the garage and a greater amount in the workshop and still never have the right tool in the right place at the right time.

Not anymore as they are all in one drawer DaveL. Seems that I have acquired these over the last upteen years.

In the shop I have a tape measure at most machines and at the hand tool bench and other areas Andy, five in total. These are brightly coloured so I can see them. Two 25' Stanley Fat Max tapes for the job sites. I usually replace one a year due to wear.
In the house I have a dedicated soft tool bag for repairs etc. Reminds me the bag needs an Olfa knife.

I don't have your current affliction for craft knives as I just make do with the one. However it's one of those clever retractable blade jobbies where you can snap off a bit of blunt blade as it gets unsharp. The blades are about a 100mm long so you can use a really sharp blade as and when. I got a bit fed up with Stanley knives 'ordinaires' as I seemed to be forever replacing the blades; with this one I just need to snap a bit off (about 10mm) to reveal a new edge - Rob

I don't consider mine craft knives, when the blade is in you can snap off dull segments also.
I use these primarily on job sites, always can't find one in a messy truck then buy a new one only to find the one I was looking for.
The one with the hooked blade is used for cutting asphalt shingles.

Yes I’m a snap off type, but I have a thing about the bits I snap off, they must be stuck inside a piece of masking tape before putting in the bin, absolutely sure I will cut myself otherwise.
The only things I can never put my hands on are tape measures, never lose them permanently thank goodness.

I also have a container for the snapped off bits.
