Might be me being a bit dim, but I seem to remember a few members making floor standing reading lamps but I can’t find them.

Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I think that I have found what I was looking for, :eusa-dance:
Adrian, yes that was the one I was thinking about plus Pete Maddex’s crane lamp.
I’m after inspiration for a foot, but neither of those help.
So….. new request, I plan to build a floor standing reading lamp, I have found a nice design that I can pirate, but I don’t like the foot the design has.
So I want a nice looking base.

Why not just do a google image search for floor standing lamps and choose from there?
Pick through IKEA /argos/ wayfair websites maybe?

This works for me. 2m tall lamp. Base about 250 mm diam hollowed out underneath and filled with steel for stability.

Steel for weights is a good idea, somewhere I have some that I skip dived from a plastic table lamp.

Presumably the floorstanding reading lamp will be leaning over from the back of your chair? This means that it needs long feet pointing towards where the bulb is, with quite long feet you won’t need weights, the feet can go underneath your chair of course, three feet will give good stability, but with the correct design two splayed feet will do. As was suggested have a look on google - images.
