• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I have a very nice Jet lathe and have made a few things to improve the usefulness of it. Here is the lathe and one of the extras I have made. No prizes but what's it for?

Is it a drive dog OK I will get my coat.

I made a flat piece for my lathe so that I could run a jig which supported a router, or is it to redirect the shaving from dropping down on the tools below

That's the supervisor dog, she over see's everything I do.

It's not as grand as your jig, it stops the cooling air from the motor from blowing on me while I am turning. When the workshop is cold it is a essential add-on.

Ah, a Samoyed, their hair/fur is an accessory and a condiment lol, I hardly ever wear black jeans anymore!
Oh yes, we have two, everything of ours has a bit of white fuff on it. [emoji2]

We have two Samoyeds, that is Staffa, she is three and also her big brother, Skye, he is six.

I have added a hinged board on the leg of my lathe to hold the chucks and face plate as having the in a draw was not very satisfactory.

I have started to add storage for extra jaws on the inside.

I have a board on the other leg that has the bigger jaws stored

I have a good dust collector but have been struggling too keep the hose in a good place when sanding plates and platters, this simple ply board with a hook on the end fits on to the bed.

That will hold the hose, using a very cheap fitting from Tool Station just below toe work and get a high percentage of the dust.
